If you could be a sci-fic writer who would you be?

Hal Clement (Harry C. Stubbs)

A quiet and underrated master of "hard science" fiction who, among other things, foresaw integrated circuits back in the 1940s.

Arthur C. Clarke

Well known for nonfiction science writing and for early promotion of the effort toward space travel, his fiction was often grand and visionary.

Frank Herbert is who I want to be.

I got

Isaac Asimov

One of the most prolific writers in history, on any imaginable subject. Cared little for art but created lasting and memorable tales.

Posted

William Gibson

The chief instigator of the "cyberpunk" wave of the 1980s, his razzle-dazzle futuristic intrigues were, for a while, the most imitated work in science fiction.

Hey acriku! I AM TMA 1... so dont mess! lol ;)

I would want to be Greg Bear, he is one of the greatest sci fi writers of our time. His books are so complicated and so deep that they are just as rich, and maybe richer than the universes of Frank Herbert.

Huh...

I got William Gibson, but that don't fit to my answers. Seemingly because i chose "cybernetics" as my favourite technological theme.

Perhaps you will get Frank Herbert if you chose that psychology theme...

hmmm, I think the theme is extremely important because it keeps the story believeable and all around good, but I tend to say that the plot drive and the writing style are even more important. They keep the mood and feel of the whole story, as well as keeping it thought provoking, if its a good book. Of course you are right if the theme of the story is like starwars or butlerian jihad. ;) hehe

heheh lol

Stanislav Lem

This pessimistic Pole has spent a whole career telling ironic stories of futility and frustration. Yet he is also a master of wordplay so witty that it sparkles even when translated into English

Frank Herbert

His style is often stilted, but he created what some consider the greatest SF novel of all time.
