What's the most painful experience you've ever had?

What's the most (physically) painful thing you've ever experienced? I'm asking 'cause mine happened just last night.

I'm driving with my sister to a basketball game, and I get to a big intersection near the school I'm playing at. While I'm waiting for a left turn, someone in the far right lane gets t-boned by an oncoming car trying to make a left turned. Thank goodness, though, nobody was hurt. Just some crumpled bumbers...anyway, this has nothing to do with my experience, but I should have taken it as a sign...

I arrive and find that I'm the only center of 3 on my team that showed up. No biggie, I thought, just means more playing time. About the third play of the game our 2-guard takes a three from the left baseline area. I'm on the opposite side of the basket, about the block area. My opponent tries to box me out (back in to me so I can't get the rebound), but I hold my ground. I easily out-jump him and secure the board. But the idiot KEEPS BACKING INTO ME. I fall towards my right side. I tried to land on my feet. That was my mistake. I should have just landed on my ass and accepted whatever call was made. I land, after a FULL jump, full-force, with ALL my wieght on the side of my right foot. I hear a 1/2-snap, 1/2-tear sound in my ankle. It's immediately and excrutiatingly painful. I could literally feel my swelling foot press up against my shoe. Play stops, I roll around for about a minute, trying to gather myself so I can get up, and eventually get helped to the bench by my teammates. I get my shoe off, and notice that my foot is quite literally twice its normal size. I (VERY carefully) get the sock off, and out of my foot I see a ball of swelled tissue and blood so big it actually looks like a second ankle bone. It took all my will-power to keep from screaming at the top of my lungs. I ice it as I uncontrolably shake from the burning pain on the bench for the rest of the game. Amazingly, my team pulls a 2-point victory despite being down 11 players to 6, and the tallest remaining player being 5'7. After about 45 minutes it's all swelled up but the pain is subsiding. It turns out, I souverely rolled/sprained my ankle and tore at least 5 ligaments in my foot. I'll be on crutches for at least 3 weeks. Hobbling for another 3. Back in a playing state in 8 if I'm lucky. At lest, that's what the doc said. Its the first time I've sprained that foot, and I recovered compltely in 5 weeks the when I sprained my left 2 years ago.

Anyway, I'm pretty down and need something worse to compare my situation to. So please, share any and all painful mishaps you've had. What's breaking a major bone like? Anyone had painful surgery? How about a nasty fall? Sports injuries galore? Post them all!

Well my worst experience(s) was when I was (idiotically) walking on the side of my feet right before Drill practice training for National Drill Team Competition in 4 months. Well I went down hard on my right foot sideways and *crunch* *snap* I feel a extreme burning feeling where my knee is, or I should say where it was. I crumple to the ground in pain and when I get back to, I find my right knee about 4 inches too much to the right. I dislocated my right knee all the way to the right, and had to wait 30 minutes to get the sports trainer to come. So, when he FINALLY comes, I'm drenched in nervous sweat and finding out how it feels under the knee cap where it should be. He iced it, then straightened my knee until it popped right back in.

Yeah, all's good, we got 5th place National Drill Team Competition, woohoo. Until Latin III class, when I was just slipping in between two desks, and of course there goes my knee again. So, waiting for about 20 minutes, the same sports trainer ices it and blah blah blah. Stupid knee.

The other day when I speared my thumb with a utensil that went in nearly an inch....right through. God that hurt. But it isn't the most painful...tearing a hamstring is pretty bad too. Ouch.

^^^^man those sounded like they hurt^^^^ anyhow

well heres the story. i am an average 16 year old going to high school. i am a varsity wrestler, varsity cross country runner, and a varsity track member. well at one wrestling meet with 2 other teams i was seriously injured.. i wrestle in the 145 pound division. i was wrestling one guy ( the second teams guy after i already wresteled) and he did a hip toss on me( threw me over his hip) and severely seperated my shoulder. the sound was heard by the crowd( which was cool cause some hottie that was a trainer came to me :):) ) and they iced it and i wrestled a few more times before going to the specialist.. that was the worst pain i have ever felt in my life so far.

ummm lets see...

Well heres an odd one; im at the river and my dog starts fighting with another dog(im about 8 at the time) and so my dog runs to me for protection and jumps on me raking his claws down my chest. Yeah he caught my nipple a little and a couple good scratches on my tit. The doctor wouldnt give me stitches cause he said he wouldnt want them there ;D

But the most painful thing that happened was about 7 months ago. I just went to the doctor about a week ago because it never healed.Ok story : I was gonna run and jump up to climb this 10 foot fence while i was running from the PO'leece( j/k it was in PE ;D) and as soon as my foot hit the fence it bent backwards and ripped my toe and i fell strait off. the doctor told me i have 'turf bone' or something which means that big toe bone is swung out so that i have a swollen looking bump and pain that will be there for a long time if i bend it wrong due to a lengthy healing time. Let me tell you that hert like a bitch. Everytime i bend it wrong it feels like all the miscles in my toe are Retearing.

i was making popcorn and poured hot oil on myself, it hurt so much

lol I didnt believe that hot water could stay hot in a thermos flask so I tested it by filling one up, left it for 2 hours and then poured it down my leg. Instant zeppeline leg.

Now try and explain that away without being called a ... awright, I was 10..

Another was having my 6 crowns done at once. Part of the process was to grind the sorry teeth to a stump, wipe alcohol over it and then wait. This was hour 3 of the 5 hour op - by this time most of the morphine had worn out. The pain was mouth chattering, to say the least.

I was making a sandwich, i dropped the knife, i cut my testicles. Oh my god I was crying all night.....

WHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAHAHAHA you cut your testicles :D :D :D .

Anyway, my most frightning experience must be when i was shot by a piece of stone, yeah i know it sounds odd but a couple of "friends" of me were playing with an iron tube, fireworks in bottom of the tube and a round stone on top of the firework... when it blasted it could fire at least 200 to 300 yards away, and what happened? it hit my jaw :) . well it was perhaps not the most painful (my jaw seems to be invulnerable) it was the most scary, 5 cm higher and i would've lost an eye.

The most painful experience is probably when i got hit by a 15 kg heavy wooden bar that i just threw away but it bounced against the wall and came back..... it hit me in the face and i got slammed at least 3 yards back... boy that hurted

I was riding my bike, and kinda zoning so I didn't notice a pothole. I hit it and went flying along the road, I left several pieces of my face along the way. All the skin on my chin scraped off, along with the lower part of the bone. I had 12 stitches. When the stiches were removed I was on a cruise in alaska, and the doctor didn't remove them all. I could feel string in my healed chin for weeks.

ouch ace that sounds like quite a painful experience. Well I'm not sure if I've had any injuries as horid as that, but I've severely jammed my finger twice, both while playing football (once middle finger, once ring finger, both on left hand and I am left handed.) I couldn't even bend my finger for 2 weeks afterward. Also pulled my hamstring while sprinting before; you can actually feel it twitching and having a hyper spas in the back of your leg, it feels like someone took a knife to the back of your leg and cut it open all the way along your hamstring, god it hurts. But definitely the most painful thing (even though it is only for about 4 seconds) is the one day at work I was cleaning a frier, and splashed boiling grease onto my arm (not just a drip, I'm talking a bug splash) grease is much worse than water because it clings to your skin and burns the sh|t right out of it. I would have screamed, but the pain only lasted for about 3-4 seconds, and then I dowsed it with water, to cool it down.

a neighbour of me though was very very lucky. he was playing hide 'n seek... and when they almost found him he ran away but didn't look carefully, he ran with his head into a plow... piercing his head and part of his brain, strangely he had no long term damage and still lives

another young neighbour though died when he was 4 as he came under the weel of a tractor :'(

Hehe Ace,

So you are trying to say that when you went out the game, your buddies start winning... Darn, it makes you think ;)

I am 30 and the older i get the less accidents happen.

Some of mine back in history:

Playing on fathers bed, i fell off, three stiches in my forehead.

I ride bicyle, fall on my nose an a path of little stoned (grindpad for the dutch).

I sit an a skateboard my nephiew is pushing me around i ride in a ditch, fall an my face...

I have a "tube" in my mouth to shoot paper arrows with, i fell and the thing hits me at the back of my througt.

At school: going to drill in some little iron plate, it starts spinning around and cuts my thumb really bad.

Me and a friend jump at the back of a truck. While he was riding we thought he might go to the highway, so we decide to jump off. Fell an my side and face, and my whole face was bleeding (never told my mom what happened for real ;))

2 car accidents where my car was total loss.

1 whisdom toothe pulled (i almost fainted when got an injection)

But a friend of mine ones run through a glass door: 300 stiches all over his body !!!!

btw, i was never in the hospital for breaking something :)

I do remember one time I was driving a friends bike...I was just a 7 year old kid...I have to hit the brakes because a cat comes out of nowhere- the bike stops, but I fly 2 metres forward and land on my head...oach.

I can relate...when I was growing and unco I jammed my fingers on almost a bi-weekly basis. I've probably had at least two-dozen sprains, some worse than others. The absolute best way to beat them is to give the finger (by itself - not attached to another finger) two or three wraps of something called koban tape. It's a kind of stretchy bandage that isn't adhesive, but clings to itself. I could easily continue to play with koban tape. If you bend your finger, it takes away almost all the pain because there's pressure and resistance on the knuckle. It still hurts to catch and stuff, but at least there's a bit of insulation.

Ok here's 1 from me.

I was 16, and I just got my first scooter (it was a PUCH but I dont know the Enlish word for it :-[), and i was racing around with a buddy of mine in the city.

I come at a crossing and I look left and rigt.

Didnt see anything so I gassed happily forward. But then I see a huge mudafuker of a citybus coming at me from the left, and i hit my brakes full power. Unfortunately I slip sidewards and slide under the bus...

But!!

I slided under it when the front wheels already passed me. The rear wheels stop at about 15 centimeters away from my head...phew.

But man I was sooo frikken sure I was gonna die :o. I've been shaking for at least 2 hrs before I dared to step on it again.

But it wasnt really painful tho. But it was for sure the most frightning experience I've had in my entire life
