Damn, I wasn't expecting this kinda thread :P

Jewish people in many countries do occupy positions of power but if you examine these countries none of them are particularly major. I know a huge amount of rich Jewish families, but there isn't a single Fortune 500 company owned by a Jew, there are no Jewish companies in the news, so extreme wealth I think is more of a stereotype. But the Jewish people that I have known have always had an emphasis on education and intelligence which can give rise to arrogance.

I suppose I'll add lastly that I'm Jewish myself, by descent, and I don't particularly mind this thread but it does seem kind of stupid :P

I am of the situation Inoc is intimate with, a descent Jew, and I believe Jews are great because they put a strong emphasis on education, and that helps society hugely, and everybody should be a Jew! :D

Yeah, in the book "A different Mirror" Ronald Tekaki talks about that. He talks about the many racial immigrations to america. Two of the most similar cultures were the hebrew people and the Chinese. Their cultures were somewhat built around respect and honor. That to be prosperous and free from being stepped upon, you needed to work hard and cut on the complaining.

Jews are no different from any other people. Anti-semites make me sick.

Considering the sheer amount of bias and persecution they had to endure through history, they are a people I respect. And they were God's chosen people.

I've never met a Jew I didn't like. (admitedly I don't know that many)

I find it disgusting that some idiots still hold anti-Jewish sentiment started by the Nazis in WWII. As a whole, they're my favorite religous groups.

IMO they have a right to Israel, and lets face it, they nation they form and maintain will be umpteen times better than anything a Arab-Muslim state could be. A sovereign Palestine would expel anything and everything Jewish or Christian. In Israel, Israeli citizens of Palestinian origin have their rights acknowledged and are treated with respect. If Palestine controlled Jerusalem, there wouldn't BE such a thing as a Palestinian citizen of Jewish origin because they'd all be killed or expelled/outcasted.

Jews are a nation with culture based on Old Testament of Bible. It's saying also:

"And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed." - Dan 8,14

This prophecy is nearly sharp. It could be cca 2300 years (many times "day" means a "year", i.e. when talking about ages) between writing of Daniel's prophecy (500-400 b.C.?) and creation of Israel state (1948) or reclaiming Jerusalem (1969). Jews won't retreat. As Arabs won't allow us to be in Mecca. Palestinians (which came from ancient Philistines) aren't Arabs. They have same religion, but also they are too fight-willing nation to build a stabile state. In Slovakia it's known that every one Palestinian living here is member of Fatah! That's a true fact! It doesn't mean they all are such, but it is a majority. Look at Germans (no offense ;) ) - others needed two huge wars to fully crush this nation to knees, to brake its lust for power. Palestinians are at least much smaller nation, but with much bigger will. Germans had at least Adenauer and other rational people. But who would lead Palestinians to peace?

Oh puh-LEASE! I suppose you were one of those people who said apocalypse was coming in the new millenium.

Don't say that, because it isn't true. They read the Torah, which came BEFORE any bible. So please rephrase that.

If you want to get technical the Old Testament of the Bible is the Torah. (Torah, coming before Christianity assembled the Bible.)

Wrong we always had the Old testment. (almost always. aside from around adem & eve)

Anyway. my view of them is a Biblcol one.

simple as God's promise toward them. and it still applys today.

"And I will bless them that bless thee and curse them that curse thee"

Genisus 12:3

Simple as that in my few, the Jews are God's chosen people.

Tora is the main part of it. But also they read prophets, psalms, all other OT books and Talmud, description of it. Acriku, how many jews do you know if you have such wisements?

But when the new testament speaks of the jews, do they mean the jews who follow the torah only or the followers of Jesus? Christianity is an offshoot of judaism.

And Caid, calling it "Old testament" is saying that it is...well, old, and that there is a new testament. The jews don't believe in your sequel of the torah and some of them won't like it when you rename it for them.

Sneezer we did not always (almost as you say) have the OT rofl. What gave you that conclusion?

Caid, what does the number of Jews that I know of have to do with anything? But if you really really want to know, I know my family, my dad's family, my congregation from the synagogue, their families, and friends of my dad and their families. Is that good enough?

wow.. i'm a jew from Israel

I must say I'm amazed by your knwoledge on Israel.

Many people who are jewish and live in Israel don't know many of these things due to the fact that Israel's society becoming less aware to their past.

Today, they are interested only about their future.

from a jewish point of view... the world have had changed alot(to good) Although their is a small rise of anti semism in many countires in europe, especially in eastern europe and france. And i must say since the world war 2 Germany is one of the countries which has the smallest rate of anti jewish activity.

However, unfortunatly, there are still ppl who hate us and even to extrem cases like murder. I persoanly, even in the gaming world, in emperor met few ppl who didn't much like the fact i'm a jew i remember a long time ago(when emperor was alive) i met one dude who didn't want to play as my ally casue i'm from Israel.

But i know that anti semism will always be as much as other nations will be hated.

Well, yes, there are quite some neo nazi's playing games i guess. It's frightening that they still exist, and they even terrorize other people over here. Even in this little town, they are present, and beat up negro's and other people who they do not like. I have two good friends who are both not realy "white" or Dutch. One comes from Egypt and one from Indonesia. Luckily they have not been attacked yet, but i don't know about those neo nazi's, the police over here doesn't do anything about it. I realy hate that.... so if we want to beat them. We'll have to come with a sizable force of approx. 20 men to scare em off (they are with about 15 :P ) . And even though not everything can be solved with violence... i'm realy want to kick some neo nazi butt.

So, there is also neo-nazistic party NPD, which still wasn't banned. Here in Slovakia we have things like action AntiFa, specially aimed against nazistic skinheads. There is always a standoff between anarchists and neonazists, their numbers are equal and stagnating. But it is true, that older people are still slightly anti-semitists. Jews were owners of every debt before WW2. But younger generations don't know about it, so it's slowly vanishing.

Best way to find what is it all about is to READ it. Old Testament is older than Evangelium, but we Christians read and use for our life too. If OT is a bad word, we should use "jewish canon", which includes also prophets, psalms etc.

And Acriku, you are jew and you don't read Prophets?
