What's the most painful experience you've ever had?

My own memory tells me that I lay there for a few seconds. That of my sisters tells me that I was there for a long time, which means that I probably blacked out. The next thing I remember is staring at the blanket with a lot of pain in my left wrist. So I lay there and moaned for a bit. When I finally got up my arm was put into a home-made sling (Don't bother the doctor!) and I was instructed to wait. I can't remember whether it was that night or the next that we finally visited the doctor, who ordered an X-ray and some plaster. Turned out that both of the bones in my forearm (the radius and ulna) had fractured quite severely and one half of one of them had crossed on top of all of the other. Owchie. Well it was numbed and set back again (with an icky crunching noise) and plastered. And the final footnote is that the plaster was too tight and really really REALLY hurt.

sorry... but im really curious how you managed to break ur radius and ulna when her foot was behind your ankle and her hand on your chest...  it takes some serious torque to break both the radius and the ulna..... dang... where was it broken and was it like a splinter fracture or a complete fracture or what?

ive never really had anything hugely painful in my life.... really the only painfull things i go through... which im used to now is if my sensei desides to do dragon or practice groundwork pressurepoints while my she has me in an armbar.....  :-

Once I had to go to the hospital to do an ultrasound check on my kidneys. I looked forward to that, because ultrasound checks are really comfortable and doing it in school time was only making it better. So I went in, and a nurse used the ultrasound equipment and after a while said that everything was fine. "Yay," I though, and was thinking everything was over.

Then suddenly the nurse says that I might want to pee now. "Uhh, would you care to tell me why?" I asked, as I felt no need to do that. She replied that they were going to take an x-ray image of my bladder and urine tube(whatever you call it :P).

I became quite scared right then, because I knew that to take an x-ray of something not bone-made, you need to pump in contrast liquid. So I was told to lay down on a bench, and that I would get a hose pushed up to my bladder through my urine tube. When she started pushing that tube, the pain was horrible! It was real torture. Like a very thick needle.

The doctor used like 15 minutes to get it in, and those are the worst 15 minutes of my life. So damn painful. I hurt just by thinking about it.

To explain a bit about the hospital visit(s as there were many): When I was about twelve, it started to hurt a lot when I pissed. So I went to the doctor, and he thought it was an infection, but it was not. I was then sent to the hospital for a consultation there, but the doctor couldn't find what was wrong. Then I went through this x-ray thing. Nothing was found.

A few hospital visits after that, they put me on the operating table and did a test on my putting a camera inside me. They found a scar in the urine tube. When I heard that, I got so freaking mad, because I remembered that a guy I hated had kicked me in my groin very hard. Why I remembered it was because of the pain involved in getting kicked there. Especially when the kicker wears shoes and kicks his hardest. While he walked away from me, in pure agony, I had charged him and kicked him from behind, and he said something like "what the fuck?" and ran.

I haven't told him, but by kicking me, he has made every toilet visit painful(and it still is), and made me go to the hospital more than six times. Two times I was checked in there and had to lie in a hospital bed for hours, the last time for more than a day.

I could remove the scar, but it would be risky, and I kind of quickly learnt to cope with the pain since going to the toilet is something everyone has to do.

I would have to say without a doubt, Kidney stones and any of the operations or procedures to remove it.  However, the Morphine and Demorol

made it somewhat tolerable. ;)

Oh I just thought of another painfull memory, years ago me and a few friends went out on a fishing trip and he went to cast his lure with  those damn  big ass treble hooks on it, with full force to get it way the hell out on the water and it caught me in the side of the arm and kinda ripped some skin on the way. Had to wait till i got home and dad took some plyers and had to cut it to remove before I went to get stitches.

I was fifteen, and I had only debarked from the aeroplane four hours earlier, to begin what I thought would be a kick-ass holiday in Spain. Met up with some friends of the family who had already been there a week, and me and the lads started playing football (soccar). I took my usual possition in nets (goal), and started saving like the good keeper i was. About midnight, i reach down to pick the ball up as it trickles by my feet and the next thing I know, I'm on my knees. I feel a shap pulling at my leg, and when I look down, my left knee cap is on the inside and up my inner thigh, and the lower leg is sticking out to the left at a rightangle.

That wasn't the pain. It was just a mild discomfort really. Unless I had gone into psycological shock.

Relocating my own knee was what hurt like hell. Mainly because I fucked it up. I had just grabbed ahold of the goalpost and hauled myself upwards. The kneecap slammed back into place with an almighty CRACK! EVerybody in the area winced, puleld faces and one of my closest friends Leanne actually gagged, which surprised me because she's a blackbelt with dans, and has a fairly iron gut. Kinda looks like a shorter, bustier Sarah Michelle Gellar with jetblack hair, but anyway.

I limp away. explain the whole thing to my mother. She curses, and she and her friends (they're orthopeadic nurses) check me out, curse some more, make jokes about my knee being "Swollen like a pudding" and i get taken to bed.

Next morning I wake up, and even attempting to move my leg has me crying out in agony. I get taken to the spanish medical centre in Llorett da mar and X-rayed. VOOM! My mother and her best friend are at the X-ray viewer as soon as it's put up and I hear more cursing. My femur and fibula are broken above and below the joint (respectively), and there's a large sliver of carteliedge been shattered along the edge of my femur. I get my leg wrapped in crey bandage to support my knee (with two burly spaniards phyically pulling my leg straight, which was agony in itself) and get sent back to the appartment complex with an appointment come abck to see the knee specialist mid-week.

I return, have the bandage removed, and the consultant specialist pokes on at the swelling. He declares he has to see whether the swelling is tissue, or fluid. In particular, whether it was internal bleeding. Unfortunately, it was, and he spent the next 40 minutes removing 40mls of blood with 5ml syringes. Does seem to bad, but he had to empty the syringe 8 times, and every time i could feel the needle bouncing and scrapping off my kneecap. The last 10 or 15 mls were elsuive, forming little pockets that he ahd to search for. Numerous times i felt the needle scraping of my bone, which made me feel physically sick to my stomach.

After that I was pretty much fine. Got home from spain a half-week later, have an explorative opperation to see what was happening and they discover I have bits of bone and cartilidge floating about inside the joint. They decide to screw the bone into place to secure it. 6 weeks of phsyio later i have my check-up appointment with the surgin. The new X-ray reveals the cartilidge has healed properly, but the bone-fragment had broke away again into what appeared to be a small slither, but they would just leave because they didn't want to further weaken my joint by more surgery until they really needed to. I had about 5 more month of physio after that - 6 weeks of total none-weight bearing left my left leg fairly atrophied and i had to really work hard to get the muscle mass back.

Two years later, they needed to opperate again. That piece of bone got trapped between my femur and fibula and my knee dislocated again, but relocate with another sharp crack when i hit the ground. Bad knee first. Moreagonising pain, more intense blood swelling, more trips to the hospital. They operate again, having another look around, and come across that bone slither whilst they're there. When they remove it, they realise it wasn't just a bone shard, but quite a large chunk of cartilidge as well. I have the piece in a specimin bottle. It's about 2cm cubed. They also discovered that my anterior cruciate ligament, the ligament that pretty much holds your kneecap in place, has actually been ripped away from the bone, with no hope of repairing it. I'm now arthritic in my left knee, and it has a tendancy to dislocated annoyingly. The second consultant-surgeon recons i have about 10 - 15 years before i need a total left knee replacement.  >:(

You have to keep your mounth still all the time when he is scraping off

your teeth and the instruments damage your gum with as result a bloody mounth

Over here, we each clean our teeth daily, our dentist just inspects them (unless there' someting wrong an you need a filling or a tooth removed, etc.)
