Bring it Back to Life!!!!

There are several older PRP topics with important posts that I never got around to respond to - mostly because they are rather long and require equally long replies. But I will try to reply to them in the next few days, and hopefully get some discussion going again.

Don't forget my WW1 post...

Sorry for my long inactivity. Some issues have cropped up here, but more or less stable now. My posting won't be as much as before for the time-being, but I'll be back.

I'm sure I've not been missed ;)

"Abortions among the fremen. Discuss."

Legal but dangerous. Fremen children are surely taught how to use contraception from an early age - pregnancy is very dangerous on Arrakis, and unplanned children to be fed and watered are a danger to the sietch.

Interesting forum stats for May.  We had more topics started than any other month since January 2006, but a great deal less posts in general than the last two months (although we still beat February).  The number of members joining is still growing, and we had 70000 more page views in May than in either of the last two months, which actually set a new page view record.

So, it seems that while May did see a considerable drop in the number of total posts, the forum actually saw a great deal of increased traffic.

I'd guess that means that the increased activity on the forum in the last few months and the constantly updated news section is drawing in more and more random visitors and lurkers.

It'd be interesting to know how many unique hits FED2k actually received in May, especially compared to the months preceding it.

There's an article in the Dune Encyclopedia that addresses Fremen birth control.

Don't mistake unique hits for unique human visitors. Then again I think you already mentioned that.

So what was happening in Jan/Feb 2007 at dune2k.com to have such high numbers?

Even with new news on the front page for bots/people to pick up the numbers are the same from Jun 2007 to present. Kinda wierd.

Well, Dunenewt hasn't been around much, I've been busy for over a week, and everyone else seems to have fallen into a vast abyss opened up by their exams.

It looks like the revolution is over. Still, it was glorious while it lasted.

Oh right. I didn't think of dune2k.com/forum counting as dune2k.com :(

We at least proved we can mount an offensive when we want.

I'm sure things will pick up as the dune movie gets closer and hopefully they will make a game for it.

You're right, and that's really important. We created a huge spike in forum activity without any external reason to do so - proving that we can become more active any time we want to.

Maybe we should make an annual event out of this.

I'm just hoping EA remembers that a Dune game is always supposed to follow a Red Alert game. :)

It was the one they released in 1991 - surely you must remember the promotional campaign, it was all over the news. Very overhyped, really. They hired people to place Gorbachev under house arrest and had Yeltsin climb on a tank, but the game was a flop and they discontinued it in December.

The only C&C game with FMVs that you could watch on TV. Not to mention participating in them, given you were in the right place at the right time...

In Soviet Russia, Kit-Kat breaks you!

Anyway, I'm back now, kind of settled down into some kind of pattern now that I've finished Uni until September and have moved back in with the 'rents.
