Who buys items online?

I just bought my first two items online.

They are Dreamer of Dune and The Battle of Corrin. Both are hardcover.

By purchasing these books online instead of at the actual store, I saved $24.28 and an additional $4.05 because I am an iRewards member. (Total of $28.33)

Which is basicly the price of another new book.

Although I am curious about how they will be shipping the 2 books to my house, whether I will have to sign something, or if they just stuff it in a mailbox along with bill.

Just looked through the website and found:

Where is my parcel left if I'm not at home to receive it?

Orders shipped by Xpresspost or Expedited Parcel can only be left in what is deemed to be a secure location. If no one is available to accept the package, and if a secure drop-off location is not available, a card will be left advising that the package is waiting to be picked up at the nearest Canada Post outlet.

So in 3-9 days it should be at my house, which will then have to be shipped to my apt whenever I go pick it up at home.

Lots of reading to do, along with 20+ chapters for school and dozens of assignments.

So what do you buy online? And when was the first time?

I hear eBay is fun. :D

I buy alot online, mainly PC parts, upgrades etc. it blows any retail store anywhere near me away on price comparisson.  And the shipping is almost always free, get it either overnight or a few days UPS or FED EX.

Eww. got an email that they send after you order.

Delivery Estimate: 9/28/2004 - 10/1/2004

They said 3-9 business days. Not 7-10.

Oh well I saved $$

If this goes over well, I may just have to buy lots online. :P

I got a good deal and bought Toon Titan on Ebay. But thats it.

Ibis emailed it to me. I even mentioned I liked his book.. It was awsome to see him reply thanks. That guy is an actor that showed up on Star Trek Voyeger before. But i'm not sure what episode now.

(Toon titan see what it is here)

Went to Indigo, within 5 minutes had the right book, but had to pay the difference, since the book costs more in the store.

And Dreamer of Dune so far is awesome. Very informative. Much better than the prequel books.

well... actually I buy almost everything online except for food, trousers or clothes I have to wear once in a shop to see if they fit (although i buy shoes online, too)...

I don't buy furniture online... but I buy books, dvds, hardware, camera, subwoofer, amplifier... i really ordered everything online after I knew which one I wanted and then searching for the dealer with the best price... and believe me, you save a lot of money.

I can't stand to buy much stuff online because of outrageous shipping prices.

lol? what outraging shipping prices... I don't talk about buying a playstation from japan... there are lots of stores where you can buy stuff... dvds and so on. I don't know what amazon.com is like, but at amazon.de you don't have to pay postage fees if you buy for more than 20 euro... and 20 euro is nothing... get 3 cheap dvds and you are above this limit...

and anyway... you can save a lot of money. my mini-disc deck costs 500 euro at the local stores... I ordered the same thing from an online store with the same guarantee and everything... but only had to pay 330 euro... and this is a BIG difference in price...

My dad buys stuff of the net but i don't have a credit card.

lol? again...

why do you need a credit card. I don't have a credit card. I buy everything with bank transfers or if I order from a shop I don't know yet I pay by cash on delivery if the fee ain't that much...

I buy lots of things online: books, cds, games, PC parts, flights, clothes, groceries, etc. I even do some banking online.

Sometimes, I'm in a lazy mood and rather than going downstairs to do the washing-up, I just order it online and have it delivered to my door that evening  :D

Just be sure that the website is an "official" one (like Ebay, or Amazon), and that the details of the transaction are secure in transit. Also, never do this from a public computer, or one that is unsecured.

Really, there is very little that cannot be done/bought online, and doing shopping like this is really much easier and more comfortable than fighting your way through the unwashed masses  ::)
