I just learned of these two bands recently, but I must say I was thrilled by evanescence Amy Lee's voice along with the brilliant music made it run icecold down my spine. This is the best music that the states has produced since LP, and the fact that Amy Lee is pretty damn good looking helps a little bit as well.

12 stones well nothing much to say about them except that anyone should do themself a favor and listen to them.

Now you all may probably know these bands allready but like I said I only learned of them recently, and wanted to let as many people know of them as possible.

I'll give the link so people can listen to their music

www.evanescence.com

www.12stones.com

btw the pic of Eric Weaver on 12 stones site (under "band") gave me another thrill, it was like looking in a mirror (back when I had "long" hair)

take a look and a minute to hear it out.

I love Evanescence, her voice with the hard music in the background goes surprisingly well. I am going to buy her album, Fallen, and hope to get back to you on the details. :)

And you might want to fix the evanescence link - it goes to porn. Those bastards bought a common typo of the word and redirect it to their porn. Bleh.

www.evanescence.com should work.

I am gonna do so too

You are right.

It's very good music.

I just discovered her band today :P

Now guys I don't wanna upset you, but I am almost certain Evanescence and 12 Stones are like P.O.D. and Creed. Not necessarily labeled Christan Music but Artiest who are Christan making music for the 'secular' world... how else would they get on TRL with Carson. ;)

Read some of their lyrics tell me what you think...

12 Stones - Broken

I question why you chose to die

When you knew your truth I would deny

You look at me

The tears begin to fall

And all in all faith is blind

But I fail time after time

Daily in my sin I take your life

12 Stones - The Way I Feel

Lately I've been wandering

Off the narrow path

You

i love evanesence. cause my name is the first two sylables !!! dont tell any body that though. and has any body ever ran into a 4' diameter CONRETE pole before ??? i did and it hurts like a %@#$%@ $#@%&$!!!!!!!!!!

i must admit that Evanescence is one of the very only bands that i can watch on my national music video station who does not royally suck (or for that matter, that is even is a "band" in the first place)

what I hate about them is that they ruined a perfectly good song by using machinery to distort and ruin the girl's voice right in the middle of the song. why do good singers always allow their voices to be bastardized like this? i'd expect something like that from Cher or Britney, but not from a real band :O

can't comment about the 12 Stones since I've never heard of them. they must not be very popular.

they've just released their debut album, and you can hear Paul Maccoy sing on Bring me to life.

as for the bands being christians I have nothing against it, however I've read some articles where Evanscence have been criticised by christian magizines.

Many christians criticize evanescence for not being christian enough. Hmm..

Let it be know you can't please all the people all of the time. Well I don't like all that choir and old time gospel stuff sounding like the Tabernacle choir.

I have heard people say the same thing about T-Bone, a gangster turned Christian rapper. There is a line in one of his songs... something like "even if I never ever win a Dove, I'm gonna keep on praising".

So who cares if certain people, who are most likely older than my parents & grandparents, are giving all the newer bands out that broadcast the word bad reviews. Not Christian enough... that just ridiculous. Not every song about Christ has to sound like chamber music. That is one of the main reasons I sought another church, the older generations could not stand us listening to DC Talk and Audio Adrenaline, who at the time were considered Taboo to listen to. No way would the Deacons allow them to perform at the church. Sad too cause thats the only way to get to the younger crowd. They laughed when I spoke of Scott Blackwell a DJ that turned to Christ and stated spinn' for God. Now NitroPraise can be found all over... could you imagine a Christian Rave? No need for drugs to get you high ... you can get drunk in the Spirit and there ain't no high unless the Holy Ghost is rolled up in it.

evanescence are very cool. i'm looking forward to hearing the rest of their stuff, because "bring me to life" sounds a lot like linkin park with a woman to me, but i really like the parts are just her singing so if the rest of the album is like that, (which she says it is in a kerrang interview from a couple of weeks ago) then i think i'll like it.

i will get it at some point, but right now i have a "cd queue" hehe. at the front is the darkness, i think they are great.

edit: too late, but does any body care ??? :'(

I've not heard of the stones though, but definitely Evanescence.

I must say that Evanescence is the best band next to LP.

Don't you think Going Under scares you? It sent a chill down my skinny spine and there goes the CD - Off the shelves and into my pocket (after payment, DOH!).

OMFG! That is exactly what I thought. When I first heard it I thought it was Linkin park with some woman singing. It is better that linkin park though as it is less "extreme".

What a shame both bands are on the DareDevil Soundtrack... ;)

(I discovered them via the soundtrack.)

I share Namp's opinion of Evanescence, so i won't go on praising the band...

concerning christian zines critizising those bands:

I think that there are many christians out there who can't understand that musicians, who call themselves christians, don't do "christian" music.

Actually i must confess, that i don't know what to say about that... If they don't want to make "worship" music, that's ok for me. I like their music as it is.

"Bring Me to Life" is pretty good, but for the love of all that is holy, I've heard it so many times! Every damned time I turn on the radio (The Bear rules!) it's on. And my mom just bought the CD on top of that!

other than that, I haven heard any of their songs.
