We've had another topic about it some months ago, but enough time has passed so that people could have changed their views. So let's see where you stand on the political map!

www.politicalcompass.org

My results are:

Economic Left/Right: -9.50

Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.31

So all I can say is... OMG!!! I never expected to be that far left! I'm just half a point away from the highest leftist score possible! (-10)

I am THE master of extreme leftism! 8)

And it seems I'm very libertarian, too. Certainly a lot more so than the last time I took the test. I'm improving! :)

Economic Left/Right: 2.38

Authoritarian/Libertarian: -3.79

I think the Authoritarian/Libertarian is just about bang on, but I KNOW I'm a lot more economically right than 2.38. I'd be at least a 6 or 7 if that test were better.

Yeah, it looks like it was designed for someone who lives in the UK so I tried to write it as if I had the same polticial opinions but lived there...

Economic Left/Right: -6.25

Authoritarian/Libertarian: 0.67

I was somwhat surprised at the magnitudes, but not the directions.

I agree with gob. I suspect that the are based on the UK, given the politicians' names being dropped (Tony Benn, Claire Short, Blair, Thatcher, Ken Livingstone...)

With 1.75 on right and -0.51 on liberty side I'm prototype of ideal politician  ;D

But such unprecisious generalisation program I've never seen. Like all rightists were fascists and all leftist friends of freedom. Well, I expect EdricO will start again yelling about how abominated it was, but remember USSR...

edit: 12.1.2007 to bolo 4.75 right, 0.67 authoritarian

Apparantly I'm liberal. But I guess I could have tod myself that!! Hehe.

Economic Left/Right: -4.25

Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.64

One thing I definitely can't stand is the idea that 'liberalism' is invariably associated with the economic left.

The word liberal has many meanings, depending on what you're liberal with. I'm a moral Conservative, definitely illiberal, but on some issues where liberalism is most logical, I favour it. And when I say I'm right wing in such a way, people usually assume I favour low taxation... though the replies vary.

Economic: -0.25.

Authoritarian/Libertarian: -1.28. Seems odd, I thought I'd be further right... Guess I'm nicer than I thought I was. :D

I think it's probably only my hatred for discrimination of any kind that put me that far left...

Economic left/right: -2.50

Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.31

too bad this is the first time ive done this and im not a very political person, i dont really understand ???

I got:

Economic Left/Right: -4.00

Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.36

Hey, I didn't know I was a communist! ;D

Round 2, I got:

Economic Left/Right: -8.00

Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.18

And I thought I was a commie before! I'm almost up there with you, Edric! ;) And I'm even more liberal, Mr. "Stagnation-is-death". (My idea is that you probably answered yes to all the religious ones, which severely hurts your "liberal" standing. Switching my religious ones around, I got: Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.67)

(PS: I like the new results. A lot. :))

Nope. I put in the exact opposites from what I did before, and got

Economic Left/Right: 8.00

Authoritarian/Libertarian: 5.38

which is almost exactly opposite.

Thusly, I think it's pretty unbiased.

A lot of the questions deal with morality as opposed to actually asking political questions like "Do you support big government?" or "Would you prefer to pay less taxes instead of paying more for welfare programs?" I would expect to see questions like that. Instead we get "The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders." Delivering a profit is not a social responsibility. I guess I would strongly disagree with that one because it does not make sense. Here's another : "Those with the ability to pay should have the right to higher standards of medical care and education." Hello, if you are paying for something it is not a right. Maybe if it was worded like this: "Those with the ability to pay can get the best medical treatment", then I could answer the question. These questions will help build a political profile of me? Not very likely.

I know of a better political test that has been around a lot longer and has a lot less questions and all of the questions make sense. Here's the url :

What does that prove? Of course if you answer the questions in the opposite direction of what you did before the results are going to be opposite. That still does not make the questions valid. Obviously a liberl put these questions together by how the wording views people on the right. Here are some examples leto the leftist:

"I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong."

So conservatives are willing to support their country regardless of morality and liberals will always champion what's right?

Total leftist bull.

Here's another that I will not even comment on:

"Jews surely have to take some of the responsibility for their persecution over the past 2000 years."

How can you even continue with the test after that one. If you do you are assuming one side or the other would agree with that and I don't believe that is the case. So which way would that swing your score if you agreed?

Yep I've seen that one before, its pretty simple but the questions are better.

Your Personal Self-Government Score is 40%.

Your Economic Self-Government Score is 80%.
