yea my mom was going to get me a g force 3, so i got all rude and said i wanted a g-force 4......now i am stuck with my tristar video card(shudder)

i posted the 10000....whoooooo

As long as you don't get shortages about the speed for games, you don't need a new one.

Damn, why had it to be you. I will get the 20000!

I still have a voodoo banshee 16 mb 3d card.lol it runs stuff great too. For those who arent freaky gamers that buy a geforce 4 4600 like my brother, I suggest a geforce 3 ti 200. You can get them off the internet for as low as 100 bucks and are absolutely great. I would highly suggest getting that over a geforce 4 mx 440 or 460. They are basically boosted up geforce 2 mx's. Also get a geforce ti. no mx geforce 4s though because its a rip off.

Be sure not to stare blind on the amount of RAM on the cards. Some 128mb cards are slower the some 64mb cards..

If you're interested in some test, head over to www.tomshardware.com

What are your system specs btw?

and further

Yeah, i agree with TMA_1... Geforce 3 ti 200 is best price/quality card since it's faster than the GF4 mx and has more special fx.

If you do want a GF4 I would advice the GF4 ti 4200 which is realy fast and still not too expensive...

And don't forget about ATI. The ATI Radeon 8500 is faster than the GF 3 ti 500 and cheaper also... I think it's a great graphix card. It is also available in a 128 mb version if you want to be a bit more prepared on the future

I'm only on 1024x768

That is just recent to.

I have a Duron 600 processor. I can safely clcok it to a 690, but don't as the difference is to small for the amount of risk.

A GeForce 2 64mb video card, I think. I can over clock it a lot higher safely, but my mouse keeps disappearing  ??? ????

What else counts?

56kbs modem. Plus, a good connection down here. We might  be getting DSL, or something along those lines.

YAY!!!

40xCD-rom

40GB HD, with some sorta high speed thingy, very high, not highest, can't remember though.

256 DDR ram, I think it might just be SDR though, can't remember.

yeah terror you are totally right. ATI has great cards. the 8500 is a wonderful card. It is very fast and offers great utilities. not like the geforce 4 ti series. The only problem with ATI cards is that their driver software is not as high quality as nvidia. gob you are right about hte matrox card but you have to take into consideration the driver support and most important the $$$$$ lol

If money is not an object, obviously go for the geforce 4 ti 4600. If it is (to most people it is) a g4 ti4200 64mb is probably your best bet, since it has a higher clock frequency the 128mb version which allows it's performance to be higher with a lower price tag. No current games utilize 128mb video card memory anyway. Yes the radeon 8500 is also a viable option, but I wouldn't get one, simply because the lack luster driver support and i know most companies optimize their games for nVidia products. Of course if you are REALLY limited on cash go for the geforce 3 ti200 like mentioned in above posts. If you are REALLY, REALLY, REALLY tight on cash, then yah the g4 mx 420 is probably your best option...although a 440 costs only like 20 or 30 more and gets quite a bit more performance, but then you start to approach the g3 ti200 price anyway.

What's your problem Raz? Of course I can't afford it, that's why I said don't take what you have for granted, because some of us (me) do not have the money. My parents sure have the money but why would they pay for things only I would use and enjoy, and maybe your family is different Raz but mine and a lot of my friend's families do not just complain to get what we want, we actually get a job and pay for it ourselves, unless it serves as a multi-purpose object.

"don't mind acriku he is just jealous because he can't afford better equipment."

euh .. I suggested to be happy with what you've got to. Does that mean I havn't got the money for better equipment nor the equipment at home to ?

;D

hmm.. i still have gf2 gts.. not that bad... It's just that i have a 1333 mhz processor and it is fast enough to support at least a gf3... perhaps even a gf4... but since i'm a hardcore rts player and much less a fps player I wait untill the gf4 is a lot cheaper

Graphics cards're a rarity here. They sell for ransoms, and no company's willing to open up here, its a price-conscious market. No, we make do with onboards, every pc comes with 'em, and most games're supported. I've got an Inter 845GL motherboard, with 64 MB onboard, I'm quite happy, it runs E:BFD and Galactic Civilisations 2. What more could I want, with college and no-gaming-for-the-next-4-years only 9 days away  :-
