In november I will go to Germany for 2 months to learn German (I`ve studied Deutsch almost 10 years, but I speak Deutsch like hell :-). I`ve everything needed for my travel, except for one problem... I still don`t have a place to stay there!! We should stay there with a german family.

For the german members: Please, can you help me? I don`t have a german home now, and I'm searching one. If someone let me stay with his family, he can visit Chile and stay at my home.

This makes me want to take some German courses at school. I know someone who is taking many of them, and it sounds interesting especially with all the spitting ;).

Hey what the hell are you guys talking about, speak frech for a change so that some Canucks here might understand it.

ps - It would not be bad to learn some Deutsch, though I would be beginning to lose my hold over all those languages, he he.

ps - All people think all other languages that they do not understand or speak are gibberish, he he. But I tell you hebrew is the hardest language.

But I tell you hebrew is the hardest language.

Because you've tried learning every other language on the face of the earth, including ones never written down?

Learn Drow.

I'd rather learn to talk with my ass...

Drow is a waste of time, really. It's a hobby language not official in any country...

I understand my ass perfectly. We are like best palls. Buddies till death tears us apart. German is not very hard. Well not for me anyway as it's quite similar to Dutch... not that i'm that great at German though.

Actually hebrew is very easy, I wasn't born in Israel but when I came at the age of 4 I learned Hebrew in less then 1 year, startin from zero.

It's rather easy to learn a langauge when you are surrounded by native speakers, and have a need to master it, not to learn just for fun. I suppose that, that is. My knowledge of Greman (Deutsch, if you like) is a knowledge of reading but not speaking :( Phonetics is ZERO. Otherwise I write this just for conversation, which is definitely far away from the initial purpose of the thread.

Do you know that the language name 'Deutsch' is connected with 'deutlich' ('comprehensible', 'understandable')? This is just like Slavonic is derived from 'slovo' which means 'word'. This is some kind of archetypical idea: you know THE language, the foreigners (aliens) don't. What they speak is incomprehensible gibberish and not a language. Like the Romans called foreigners 'barbarians' for they didn't speak (=speak Latin) but made some 'bar-bar' sounds :)

German translations:

Du hast Deutsch fur 10 Jahre gelernt, deutsch is furchtbar! Ich weiss nicht warum  hast du dass gemacht.

You have learned German for ten years, German is terrible! I don't know why you have done that.
