Aroused after downloading the images, according to the statement of facts, Briere went onto the street in the west-end neighbourhood known as the Junction Triangle. People who simply view child porn should be given 25 years in prison. >:(

Briere received an automatic life sentence and will not be eligible for parole for 25 years. However, he can apply under the faint-hope clause after 15 years. Parole officials are generally favourable toward convicts who express remorse for their crimes to spare victims' families the trauma of a long trial.

Yes, I read about it earlier yesterday.  It's very sad to hear..  Although I don't agree with him being put to death, he should be put someplace where he can never hurt anyone again, be it prison or otherwise.

What scares me more is that there are many more like him out there. Just read what he says about how "easy" it is to get to stuff.

there have been pedophiles long before kiddie porn was invented.  They have always existed.

Sadly they get cable tv and newspapers and probably access to the internet at most prisons, at least the ones on the news I saw about Canadian criminals voting had access to media.

So why not commit a big crime? You get to live for free the rest of your life, watching cable, working out, and voting for your local MLA. Sadly the system is really messed up.

Good grief, people really do get worked up about this... What exactly makes a crime against a child so much worse than a crime against an adult? Granted children are less able to defend themselves but doesn't this just make the people who prey on them weaker?

that;s canadian prison, the Max prisons here are absolute hell, I'd rather die then go to one of these hell holes.

So it's the denying of a 'rest of life' or 'reaching adulthood' that makes it worse?

In my eyes, yes. Life is a wonderful opportunity, and if it is taken away from someone who hasn't had a chance to live it then I find that unfair and disgusting.

i feel the same way... except i raise the age limit.

to me a 20 yr old or a 30 yr old who gets murdered is just as unfair and disgusting for me ... they still had  a theoretical  80 or 70 years left to live respectively
