A Good Death is as Important as a Long Life

It's not really something we always have control over... I'd like to decide when and how I die but that's not very likely. And I don't have enough life to go trading bits of it away to die quietly. Who wants to die quietly anyway?

If I see it coming I plan to go out with a bang, and maybe cause a bit of chaos before I go...

That is exactly what I thought! I mean no one will really notice if you go quietly.

Personally I would like to go down in a hail of bullets after robbing a bank or something like that or maybe lead cops on a chase through the west coast of the U.S and then drive off the side of the Grand Canyon...Possibly taking some cops with me! ;D

You know basically stuff that would reach the world media and etc!

hehe .. somebody's  been watching too much "Thelma & Louise"

:)

Or that Simpsons episode, where they parodize Thelma & Louise... ;)

It doesn't really matter how I die, as long as it's quick.  And It'd be nice if it wasn't very embarassing, either.  I'd like to be wearing clothes at the time, for example.

I was thinking maybe poisoning a few dozen water supplies with something specific to the human body so that nothing else dies. And then when everyone else is gone drinking the water myself...

The ancient Greek believed that you could have not been happy in live, if you didn't die good and happily. So you good be rich and all, but if you died poor, then you still wasn't happy.

I don't want a peaceful death. Whole family around me dying on a bed would be nice, but it's not fully possible. I would like to die like Epameinondas, king of Thebai. After a great battle, where he defeated an army of allied Athenai and Sparta, he pulled off one arrow, which hit him fataly, so he could enjoy at least few seconds of victory, and yet be a fallen hero. Sir Sard has some influence on me  ;D

I`ll give it a 1/100 of a sekund,I`ll proably die faster but one thing is sure,I`m gonna die,so I will enjoy every min I`m alive. ::)

ps: I dont want a quiet death  8)

Well, I wouldn't like to die in my bed in the company of my kin, I would prefer to die in battle, idealy in a way so that my kinsmen could be proud of me.

BTW, Ivik, it is king, not sir

you see, here it is why Dutch world domination will be succesfull... you're all waiting for a good way to die.... we just want to conquer the world.. I think we have better motivation....

Or just before Dutch World domination...

hah, that would be great  :D . Would you do that for us? That would make it soooo much easier for us  ;D

Not me personally of course, I'm going to die defending my country...or we could just ally and make it even easier.  We have people like Nema in our country, doesn't that make us worth saving?

Who wants to die quietly? I want my death to mean something. The only situation in which I'd want a quiet death is if I manage to achieve all my goals in life, so that I can retire peacefully.

What? Never! First of all, stabbing is messy. Second of all, I respect you too much to do that. Third of all, what's all this talk about how we'd like to die? I plan to live a long life, thank you very much.

Some people wish to achieve immortality, by amassing great wealth, or by doing daring feats. On the whole, I prefer to achieve immortality by just not dying.

I believe the Woody Allen quote you're thinking of is "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying".  ;)

And I tend to agree with Edric.  If  my death could possibly mean something, then that would be ideal.  A sacrifice of sorts, although it would probably have to be involuntary or accidental on my part, since I  - and realistically, I'm assuming the vast majority of you - probably couldn't willingly give up life, even for a cause.  That's why I'd donate my body to science if I wasn't paranoid that people would see me naked.
