Abstinence until marraige--Yes or no?

i went to ibiza not for clubbing or sexual promiscuity but for a youth camp of 2000+ jr high and high school kids from all over europe for a Christian retreat. Of course, it was pretty sad when we had to walk all these young kids past all the nudies once we got off the ferry.

the island is gorgeous, but morally bereft.

How is it morally wrong to have sex before marriage? Who are we really talking about here anyway teenagers or adults? You can't stop people from having sex I mean think about that for a minute. It is natural for people to want to try sex. I do not think people should be look down apon because they have sex before they get married. That does not mean you should share yourself with everybody either use common sense.

Some good points. I don't think you should go sleeping around, and you should wait until you are "of age" and in a commited relationship, but then? Really, it's your descision, and their descision, no one else's. You can't legislate morality. If you try to, you quickly end up with a police state.

Besides, it's simply basic instinct to have sex. It's not an evil thing, but, being the most intelligent creatures on Earth and all, common sense and restraint should be excersised.

We are th emost intelligent creatures on Earth. Bu then we are the only cretures we know of who have that perseption of intelligence. Not even to mention that intelligence isn't only mesured from a humans point of view, but is also created by humans.

i dont see how you can say intelligence is created by humans. That is like saying "gravity" is created by humans. Sure, we invented the word, but the word merely describes something else that exists independent of humans. Put simply, intelligence does not require humans in order to exist, therefore we could not have possibly created it.

Even atheist Carl Sagan agreed that an objective definition of intelligence is required in order for SETI (the organization he loved so dearly) to distinguish between what is intelligent and what is either chaos or non-intelligent patterns. IN addition, animals exhibit intelligence that is not shared by humans.

The only unbiased method of measuring intelligence (we have an unfair advantage on our own tests, because we made them) is measuring brain mass. Whales have more brains then humans. They, however, don't have hands like humans and can't create complicated tools for themselves, hence there are no whale buildings :(

I don't think that you should necessarily wait until marrage. In my opinion if you're in a relationship and sex isn't always popping into your head then it's fine. If you go into a relationship just for sex then someone is going to leave harmed by the experience. If you meet someone and you say to yourself, "wow, she (or he) is beautiful" or great looking or whatever, but don't have a sexual motive behind it, it can indicate a possible relationship. After you've gotten to know someone then sex can end up being the next stage in the relationship, and it can lead to a better understanding of your girlfriend, or boyfriend, or wife (husband) if you decided to wait.
