Wow, it's like a virus. Almost like... Dare I say it... Nah.

I wonder what the guys in charge of writing the New Testament would have thought about the internet, bulletin boards, and the like. Any nostradamous prophecies regarding the interwebs?

EDIT: I just thought of a funny: what if Nostradamous's visions were of movies?

The Christian apostles would have thought what they think about any type of communication. It can be used for 'bad' or 'good'. The same Internet that can be used to spread porn involving girls and bestiality, is the same Internet that can be used to spread informative treatises about The Book.

As far as End of the Gentile Age prophecies go, we are into the Final Fulfillment phase. Now that the state of Israel exists again, things will start happening quickly.

Well this has been a fun little distraction. I've sent PMs to Dunenewt and Lord J (tried to send one to you as well, Wolf :)), but the one who started the off-topic discussion in here doesn't deserve that decency.

Eras: Your posts aren't welcome in this thread. Take your nonsense back to PRP and keep it out of here. Any further posts by you in this thread will be reported and removed. So don't even acknowledge that you've read this; just don't post in this thread again. :)

Dunenewt, Lord J, Wolf: I'd ask that you also leave this thread be. After all, this is all just pure fiction. Only a fool would take anything written here as fact. :P

You should have really thought of that before your rant on August 31st & Sept 1st. You know, it's the rants that people remember on these Forum Boards.

It's already after 7 am. It's time to help the people of my community. I'm sure you will be off to do whatever it is you will be doing. Tell our friend I am still waiting for him to chime in.

Since I'm responding to your 'story'. I have a 'Father of the Year' Award & an 'Uncle of the Year' Award, if that matters.

(Is it too much to ask that comments on this fanfic be posted in or moved to the appropriate thread? And that those which have nothing to do with this fanfic be deleted? Come on, mods, get off yer duffs and moderate.)

ErasOmnius has been banned from the Fan Fiction boards. Dragoon Knight if you give me the all the post #'s you want moved I will do that. They are located in the top right corner of each post.

UPDATE: Posts have been moved into Fan Fiction Comments.

I know the feeling. Dragoon and I haven't abandoned our fic, it just suffered a bit at the vicious hands of my perfectionism. I'm hoping to get it back on track... "soon."

Meanwhile, I have to say that I've never seen an episode of LOST, so I'm not sure what it entails besides islands, monsters, aeroplanes and a whole lot of confusion. Perhaps that makes me a perfect candidate. I don't know what to expect.

You had another idea not long ago, the superhero one? Well, "super." The only thing that worries me is not finding enough people to take part. Things are rather slow here. Very little new blood.

Though on the upside, the dingbat from PRP is banned from this part of the board. It's like a little haven now.

Maybe I'll take a peak around and try to think of something. I sometimes go back in time and look at all my old shitty solo writings I posted on this forum. While in retrospect I should have never picked up a pen, they helped me build some more confidence into writing now.

Thank you guys for that.

On a related note:

Reading through Warlords 2, I keep seeing mistakes. So I thought I'd point out, for the record, that most of the posts in it are first drafts. Those that have been spellchecked still haven't been through much of an editing process, so the mistakes that remain... they'd be removed if I was doing this properly.

Taking a slight detour in the plot at the moment. Hopefully we'll stay back on track as far as posting is concerned.

Edit: Oh yeah. Also, reading back through the archives to find material for Warlords, I never realised just how much of my writing is... the same. I mean some things change, but there are some definite tropes and styles that run through much of it which I really need to break out of. That's a good thing about the old material here, it acts as a teacher of sorts.

Haha, I remember reading this ages ago (15 years ago). I remember I posted about it here and everyone came to the conclusion that it was a fake: some guy pretending to be some Herbert dude managed to get the book printed. How come you have it with the title in romanian?

"Cuz I didn't think Florin Chirculescu would mind if borrowed his title.  ;)

My google search returns a surgeon by the same name. If I remember correctly the name on the book was "Rober Herbert" or some rip-off like that and the real author seemed to be american.

Posted

But more importantly... how do you even know that Romanian-language title in the first place? I thought it was incredibly obscure.

I remember borrowing "Dune 7: Cartea Brundurilor" over ten years ago, from a friend. The story made no sense to me. Granted, I hadn't read the main series beyond Dune Messiah at that point, and my memory of "Cartea Brundurilor" is very fuzzy now, but I do remember it seeming completely unrelated to the rest of the series.

Also, the fake author's name was Patrick Herbert. I remember that very well, because I searched for that name online at the time and couldn't find anything.

That makes sense, IIRC Patrick is FH's middle name.

Posted

A Romanian wiki cites that the author' name is Florin Chirculesu, who uses the pseudonym of Sebastian A. Corn , who also used one time the pseudonym of Patrick Herbert to write Dune 7: Brundurilor .  Apparently, Dr. Chirculesu never quit his day job and continues to be a thoracic surgeon when not writing science fiction.

Oh, Lord! hahahahah Why didn't he just use his normal pseudonim and a different title? The book wasn't THAT bad, but if you compare to FH's work it is rather amateurish and ... really not connected. I mean I would've enjoyed it more if I wouldn't expect FH's stuff in it at every corner, only to be amazed by the sheer differences.

Mmmhmm, something about my IWW local fighting off zombies or something.

You know, I've been meaning to ask you: What do you think about the tremendous rise of the zombie theme in popular culture in recent years? There are now countless zombie novels, zombie movies, and zombie games...

Like a hipster.

I loved zombies, before it was cool. This forum can attest to that.

Honestly though, it depends on the writing, its a little over saturated at this point. I'm still a fan though. More of a fan of the slow zombies than the fast ones. It's just the fear that anyone you love can turn into a monster, your friends, family.

That we are all monsters, just waiting for a bite to turn us. Turn us, or let us free.

That and being hunted. I guess people need to feel a bit menaced to feel united. I mean, it would hardly matter religion and political views in case of a zombie outbreak. AFTER that though, when society calms down...

I really find the zombie movies a bit childish. Like a growling, slow (not always), smelling thing can "sneak up" on you in plain sight and bite. This keeps happening in all zombie movies and it's not really realistic. Plus people having personal problems overshadow the catastrophy they're living.
