One big hint:

Uninstall Kazaa, remove it from your computer forgood. It demolishes your entire computer, and it doesn't search well, and the download code isn't good.

I suggest you Imesh. Look at www.imesh.com for it. There you can download what you want.

Hey, but not illegal messing heh ;)

Kazaa is putting spy ware on your computer, which you can remove somehow (i did it and my comp was stuck)

I wouldn't put it on my own computer, therefore i put it on the computer of my gf   ;D

Where do you get kaZaA lite? I have kazaa version 7.1

Just search for the games, if it doesn't show up, then it is probably not there at the time, try again later.

Use ad-aware to get rid of spyware. And, sometimes a good program comes with a downside, so live with Kazaam it's the best there is.

I agree that KaZaA screws up your computer. But you can find a lot of nice things on it. When you have a good firewall you can simply block KaZaA when you don't use it, but then that doesn't prohibit KaZaA to do his thing on your HD.

KaZaA lite does seem to be without the B3D software, but then the new KaZaA [ due for release in about a month as planned now ] will have a verry strict licency agreement, you have to install B3D. And it isn't exactly "spy-ware", it's just like Seti@home in a way. When you read the agreement you'll find that it doesn't do anything outside what is mentioned. So any unmentioned sideeffects don't appear to be there. It's not an "clocked keylogger".

And then you can block people from uploading your files, so another can find them as in your case but not download them. Or you get blocked when you'r downloading, you'll see the speed drop rapidly and you'll know. . . .

I've used KaZaA for about 2 weeks at home, on a seperate computer. Then LL formatted the drive and cleaned all the sectors in th enew filesystem. Now I only use KaZaA on computers of other networks [ where the admins didn't block the protocoll ::) , how stupid or in public internet places. ]

Do you have programms that show / monitor what other programms are doing on your computer ?

With me it shows that some part of KaZaA [ can't rember which ] was contacting the net ones in a while, even while I turned it off and blocked the thing. Not to mention that KaZaA itself is monitoring your system and files.

How do you know it's not going anywhere? Why would it scan if the information wasn't important enough to send via internet. It gathers information, and probably goes somewhere with it.

Whats a node / supernode? it is a hacker thing?

Iits written many places but I never knew what it is!

Kazaa is better than Morpheus and the other on whats its name* um WinMx

Has one of you ever heard of Kazaa.Benjamin ?

It has some thing to do with [ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun]

'System-Service'='C:WINDOWSsystemEXPLOROR.SCR'

[ or sometimes another version of a *.scr depending of your version of windows and the state of the KaZaA worm. Yep, you heard right, there is a KaZaA worm out there, sneaking through KaZaA users and storing data that it drags with him. [ If you have the worm you can even view the data ;) ]

And don't worry, it's not a dangerous worm. ;)

And besides that, with the new KaZaA version there will be a "must install part" from there partners Altnet-Software that you have to install, and register [ but it does that for you automatically ]. This will enable users to buy music online and download it right away, you can disable the feature after instalment. This will be the probbeble next step of any due to released KaZaA client.

I forgot about a possible KaZaA lite-version, it was in the memo from the KaZaA-guy's the mailed out some weeks ago, but I can't remember where I put the print-out .. . ...

Oh, and BTW. Th eAltnet-Software parthas the same features as the pressent even a bit more sophisticated. Monitoring your system and files if nessecary.

Windows has heaps of Must Install things. You have to live with those type of things.

"Worried about Benjamin?"

Don't get paranoid about benjamin.

It only comes on your downloads, just like most viruses.

And there is a free anti-benjamin program from ther Kazaa startpage.

Normally when you run Kazaa, it will use your computer as a "supernode". What that is is just a nie way of saying they're going to fark your computer for their own ends. They steal your bandwidth and processor cycles and use it to power their own websites or something to that extent. Anyway, just don't use kazaa unless you don't mind the supernode stuff.

KaZaa = MAD SpyWare!

If you like having any information on your computer sent to God-only-knows-who without your knowledge or consent, then install KaZaa.  If not, avoid KaZaa at all costs.

Do you guys actually read EULA's before you install software?  I read KaZaa's EULA.  If you read KaZaa's EULA and do not run away screaming in terror, then something is very very wrong with you.

Posted

EULA? You mean license agreement?

Yes, you should always read tha. Ok not entirely, but you must seek for things not good. It's forbidden to hide things in it. It must stand there clear, but no one reads, so they don't care

Okay, in the options, you can turn supernode off. Some of you are just against it for no reason. Lot's of things are spyware. Including, DaDaDaDa

Windows XP

So, get over it. Everything has good and bad points.

And spyware is almost on everything in it's own way.
