I've thought about some questions I wanted to bring up here.

Here is the first one:

If it was 100% clear that whatever you do in your life, whatever you did and whatever you ancestors did in their lives, you would still go to hell. With this in mind, how would you live your life? Would you still be good towards other people? Or would you try "the extreme" stuff, like taking drugs, commit crime etc?

The question can also be "reversed", in other words, replace "hell" with "heaven".

Well Since their is no Hell there is nothing to fear, but since there is no heaven there is nothing to anticipate. If rotting in a jail cell for commiting a crime is your idea of a fun life go for it...

drugs eh...

Either way, I think I would go for the extreme option. Of course this would require a dramatic reversal of my beliefs (I'd have to start believing in Heaven and Hell for a start) but if it were certain, who am I to argue?

Of course you have to be careful not to be too extreme. If you go out on a slaughering spree and get caught then you're not likely to enjoy the rest of your life.

I'd prolong my life as much as possible (avoid drugs, don't drive too fast, etc) and then set about enjoying it. I'd eat what I want, I'd act how I want, I'd probably not say what I want (I can talk myself out of many situations), and when I decided the time had come to die I'd go out dramatically and take as many people as possible with me. Maybe mass poisoning. And I would make sure that my legacy, as well as my fame/infamy would live on for a long time afterwards.

Come to think of it, why aren't I doing all of that now? Since I don't believe in Heaven or Hell... Thanks for pointing this out to me! >:D

I'd just carry on as normal. Perhaps if I was going to Hell, I would be just a little more sadistic - deliberately frustrating in advance any attempts to get anything by foul means, such that the receiver is unable to complain. Perhaps I'd deliberately accumulate lots of money, surround myself with sycophants when I'm old and leave it all to charity anyway. Keeps the sycophants off everyone else, I suppose.

I'd live my life exactly as I am living it now. Rewards or punishments do not affect my moral convictions. "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile", as Albert Einstein once said. Personal enjoyment is a pathetic illusion, a meaningless distraction which can be attractive from time to time, but which cannot constitute a serious purpose in and of itself. My purpose in life is to serve Humanity. Why? Because it is a thing worth doing. Because it is a purpose worth dedicating one's life to. Because long after I will be dead and buried, Humanity will live on.

Rewards or punishments have nothing to do with my purpose in life.

Although if I knew I was going to hell, I'd probably arrange things so that Dust Scout got there sooner. ;)

I'm too "naturally nice" to be bad to people.  I've tried being an asshole.  Oh, how I've tried!  But it never works.  When it all comes down to it, if scientific proof ever arose saying there was only hell, I just woudn't be arsed to change anyways.  ;)

Transcendental questions are hard to answer due to lack of experience with it. However, I am sure I would not believe in such fate and will do anything against it. And if it will be pointless, then at least let I have a best possible rank there.

I'm not certain wether there is a hell or heaven, but if there was and if it's already pre determined where I'm going I'd still persue the goals I am now, so that in the end I can at least say I accomplished that what I wanted since the beginning.

Ooo you nasty boy you. On the other hand, wouldn't you rather I went to heaven so that you wouldn't have to spend eternity with me hanging around?  :)

well all i know is that i'm not going to drunk myself... tried that this night... bad idea... If i would go to heaven anyway i wouldn't make such a big thing about death. If someone close to me would die then, I wouldn't find it so hard as i knew he/she would be in heaven and only feel better.

If i would go to hell anyway, I think i would try to live a good life so that i at least have some joy before Lucifer picks me up..

I don't believe in heaven and hell, but if I take the question as it is (given the fact that the word 'IF' is involved):

I probably would live like I'm living now, the only difference is that I would stop caring about being nice to people sooner.

I think my life would pretty much remain the same.  I may spend some time, initially, being depressed (if Hell were my future), but not too long.

You see, Heaven or Hell doesn't really matter much to me.  I'm going to try my best to get along with the rest of my species, because I don't think it's important what happens after life, but how you are remembered after death.

If you din't have a choice in that matter there would be nothing to do but waste your life. The only question would be *how*. Thats one reason why the question can be really important.

If it was clear i was going to hell and no way out of it. I would really try and enjoy life. I might go extreme a lot of places. Because there would be no reason not to. If it feels good, do it.
