Didn't want to start a new topic on the same subject hence the reserection.

Quit the cigs on the 31/03/06, following the Alan Carr method. Haven't had any nicotine since then and feeling great.

I find it amazing how easy I've found it to quit and how different i feel in such a short period of time. i feel so much better in general and all my work colleagues , friends and family have all commented on how well i look.

Saving a fortune as well, i reckon around

Lol yeah! Good for you, Al. Oye Ex, hows it going? Stay away from those cigarettes, chap, they're real bad for you. Try and get absolutely as much excercise as you can (go swimming till you drown, thats supposed to be the best), and don't succumb to that weedy craving again, ain't gonna help. RD came out with an article on it, it says that post-quitting, it takes upto 6 months for your lungs to clean out, plus another year or two for you to get upto a non-smoker's oxygen-absorbency level. I know, sounds kinda depressing, but you keep taking a puff now and then, not gonna help at all. Clean 'em out, boy.  ;)

uh yeah... I forgot about that. although they gave me a costume and made me play that awesome new role in x-men 3.  ;D

but actually... if I take a look at how many people have so much difficulties with quiting smoking I really seem to be kinda hero to just stop it without any problems...

Isn't it ironic how many people want to quit their addiction by feeding their addiction with the main addictive part of smoking Nicotine !!! (patches and gum) BUT it's big business so............

I love the TV ads for nicorette, " Its day four sigh I went out for the first time today with smoking friends sigh it was so hard but i'm proud of myself...."

Yea right get a life.  ;)

I havn't smoked cigs in a couple years, except in a couple occasions when  I have been really drunk and people told me the next day I smoked.

So I guess as long as I don't remember smoking, It wont hurt me.

Smoke weed...eh..occasionaly, don't pay for it myself anymore but if it's there I might..

alchemi2 you have just wasted a rediculous amount of money over those 28 years. :(

Assuming 400 a month for 28 years @ 5% return on the money.

n=336  (28*12)

pmt=400

i=0.41667    (5/12)

pv=0

fv=? ie what you would have today in pounds

CPT fv= 292,168 pounds gone that you could have right now if you didn't start smoking. That's 616,608.72 CAD for all you canucks.

People look at the health side of smoking. I sometimes think the financial side is just as astonishing. I always laugh when a smoker tells me they don't have any money. I laugh harder when a smoking married couple tell me when they have no money.

I mean they are paying to kill themselves.

I'm glad most of us aren't smoking now. It's no different from suicide, really. Except that you get some short-term relief while you're at it in the long run.

@ exatreides

People who smoke should run into a burning building and get a good whiff of all the smoke.

My brother did that when a neighbors house was burning down while they were rescuing items from the home. The smoke inhilation he got caused him to quit smoking. Not that he was a big smoke addict, but his lungs hurt a lot from inhaling all the smoke in the fire, so he realised that smoking was bad.

Why pay money for cigs, when you can inhale smoke from a burning building for free, and get a higher dosage? ;)
