  1. Hopefully this isn't a double post; The Atreides/Caladan The villains The Fremen/Arrakis Source; http://nerdist.com/concept-art-imagines-dune-as-an-animated-film/ Source of the Source; http://mattrhodesart.blogspot.ca/2015/09/dune-now-with-some-color.html I really would not mine Dune in a strongly stylized animation. There are tones of very nice looking, enjoyable western animations out there. Ok maybe not all perfect, but it's still great. A while ago I told my wife I wish Game of Thrones (a song of ice and fire) has a strongly stylized animated version, that way they could reproduce dream sequences without a hitch, and many other things from the book the TV show is not able to show correctly due to limitations. Always figured animations was perfect for stories of epic scope and scale, it's all drawing, so you're not as limited.
  2. Lets talk about Interesting and Uninteresting Kickstarters Regardless if you're for or against kickstarter, we can all admit there is some interesting and uninteresting projects. Personally every so often I like to browse trough and see what is being proposed. I have never backed anything and will never back anything. But that's for another post. I like to see how everything, from the goals, how the present the project to the art and ideas. But I can't deny some make me laugh for a reason or another. For the first one I want to show you guy I thought it was interesting with the DUNE image. "Phoenix Dawn and the Rise of the Witch" https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/erictrowbridge/phoenix-dawn?ref=category The video starts out and shows you .... nothing.. then the author talks and shows you more of nothing. HOW did this think get backed is beyond me? All he shows looks like some desolate pixar animation stills, and camera moving around in empty desolate locations. I get it that many of these projects are in Pre-Production or even Alpha. But I'm hardly sold at the first video. One more before the end, this one falls into pathetic attempt category. "Zombie: The Rising" https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1621653060/zombie-the-rising?ref=category This one the author literally quits while posting, but still post. And his page shows - NOTHING. I could forgive Dr. House as a intro image if he had his own art ... Lets talk about Kickstarters!!!
  3. On one side, I'm happy their not whoring out the IP. I mean they could turn it into a milking cow like call of duty. And then again, it's to bad it's completely dead right now. I rather they hold back on the movie a while, just because I wouldn't want it to be generic or a money grab essentially. (God knows I'm pissed with the latest Hitman movie) I'd love to see an RPG/RTS - or anything expansive on the universe and other houses. ////////////////////// Perhaps we can be lucky and someone will make something very similar. Sort of like Warcraft and Starcraft being blatant copies of the Warhammer and W40K IP's. But the difference being Blizzard is Actually doing something with them. In a year from now we're getting the Warcraft Movie. Games Workshop has only managed to make the Straight to DVD Ultramarines which was awful. ////////////////////// Well have to do with fan stuff (when there is some)

    Naruto Gaiden

Wait, wasn't Naruto supposed to end? So I'm guessing this is a Spin off series? or sorta like the dragon balls, another series. Sorry If I'm way off, I don't watch Naruto at all.
  5. Been Playing The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. As much as I love the setting, the visuals and the atmosphere, I have to admit I feel like the game is lacking some polish. Some aspects of the game feel by the numbers, so perhaps lacking a bit of heart of talent, it's not terrible, but so far it's slightly lacking. I'm only at the 2 or 3rd mission though. I much preferred XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the game is solid all around and if you play at a decent difficulty it's actually engaging because if you mess up it matters (compared to tones of games today where it doesn't). I know one is turned base tactical and the other a third person shooter, but the themes are there. Been attempting to get into SNATCHER for Sega CD One of Kojima's earlier games. Clearly inspired by Blade Runner and many other movies. You even get a Mini Metal Gear to help you. This game has lots of things which interest me, and as Kojima likes to tell stories / make movies more then games, it's something I'm in the mood for right now. As always, I just don't have enough time to play these games and tones more.
  6. I have a CD version but I don't think it's a highbrid, one of my friends gave it to me, stating he'd probably never play again. I looked at him like he was crazy. Warcraft 1 was great. Recently I've been reflecting a lot on old school gaming, and there's just something I really like about it. Well lots I really like about it. If I had the possibility I'd probably collect all sorts of old games like this, but I can't. I wonder if there's a list somewhere of all the MAC games ever released, 'cause they don't have much as far as I know. Happy Mac gamers (the few they are) got to play warcraft :P
  7. Cool find, thanks for sharing, this could be useful 8)
  8. Man, we just can't get ourselves some new Dune. At least this "inspired by" is better then nothing. You know... someone could make a Dune Board Game on "Tabletop Simulator" Steam Workshop. http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse?appid=286160 People have been copying tones of real tabletop games and putting them into this simulator, I have no idea how long they'll be able to pull this off. But think if it, if someone re-created this Dune game it would probably one of the only ways you could play it.
  9. Yeah watch lots of South Park, don't think I've seen that one yet, looking forward to it.
  10. Some people would say that's an insult to Terraria, the same is similar to minecraft I hear, but different in many ways. L.A. NOIRE ; I finished this just recently. I really enjoyed it for the story gameplay was solid also. I wish the game didn't feel like it HAD to be action orientated. The action could have been toned down a bit, but I know people would say things like "nothing happens it's boring" so they had to make shooting segments. I wish the game would have taken more elements from the Film Noire visually, I'm sorta disappointed on that side. Also I wish I learned more about Cole (main character), we only see his wife and kids once, yet it's mentioned a lot in the game. I wish the character was more developed, you got a sense of who he was, but I wish it was deeper, perhaps I was hopping for more RPG in it. My only other complain was the game sometimes held your hand, when I was thinking about a mystery if I took to long my partner would give me obvious hits which basically stopped me from trying to figure it out. So it was a little too easy at times. BATMAN ARKHAM CITY ; This one I'm not finished, and yes the 4th game is coming out, I'm still on #2, I take my time and don't buy every game out there. Got the Game of the year edition on sale for 7.50$ so can't complain for waiting. This game is so good on so many levels, and it's fun, being a Batman fan you are treated. Sorry Superman fans, you'll still have to wait for ... something. RESONANCE ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z05LT3MSjts << Trailer for those who don't have a clue what this is. So far it's great, I really lost the habit of playing these games, but it comes back to you quick. And this game has a easy to use interface, so it makes the whole navigation and interaction with the world easy and seamless, all you need to do is use your brain. And the puzzles are logical, not like resident evil puzzles. BLOODRAYNE 2 ; Lol, it was decent, I finished it for the first time a few weeks ago. It was an average game using highly sexualised gameplay and characters to sell it. There are better games out there, but for what it was it was solid. (Incert *Hard* joke here). Mark Of The Ninja ; Finished that after Bloodrayne2 (BR2), it was very good all around. Better then BR2. I enjoyed both endings. http://backloggery.com/memorycard.php?user=soapp for more recent stuff. Id love to try FTL, but I'm trying to finish a few of my games before I buy others, I have so many. That and replay some I really enjoyed. Too many games, so little time.
  11. Alright good point. I've only seen the first hobbit, all I know if I never felt like any of the characters where in real danger, except for the wizard of the forest character. There was one scene particularly where they where running away from some goblins or something and they where dogging EVERYTHING, and avoiding everything just perfectly, didn't feel real. Eventually, you loose interest. What was this topic about again? -
  12. Of all the Dune Media out there, the first PC game Leto is the one I usually see in my mind. But honestly it can shift from one to another, both the movie and TV show brought great things to the character.
  13. Luckily the bots can't register, I used to be part of a Forum every day we'd get Bots signing up. It was sad too because they where more regular then real members.
  14. Agreed Adventure, but theirs a difference between Adventure and Action. - Most movies today seems to be more action. I don't mind helping out here and there, but I can't commit completely, I have other projects I do, I'm happy to help where I can.
  15. Not sure I get your question, but basically a MOD is something you apply to a game to change it up. And Civilization 4 has a overhaul mod that changes the world and makes it all about Dune. Check it out; http://www.moddb.com/mods/dune-wars So if ever someone was a mod genius he could turn Mass Effect into Dune, that would be great! But I won't hold my breath. Or any other game that's recent. :)

    A Dune RPG

So I had some free time at work and wrote a bit of my idea for the romance side quest; I guess if each could be individual it would be more realistic, so you can totally miss one if you don't trigger the proper event. But keep them linked if certain stages are reach you could have a jealousy effect or something.
  17. I was like, "Let's watch Dune" and they said "Why you want to see DOOM?" - I said "not Doom, DUNE!" And then we watched it and they enjoyed it. But yeah my Step Brothers never heard of it. I sorta don't want to see a new Dune movie, Id be horrified if they give the project to someone like Michael Bay. If the director was competent ok, but again I think hollywood would just try to turn it into ACTION, Explosions!!! arg.... As for games people can always make mods, sorta like the very nice Civilization 4 Dune Mod.

    A Dune RPG

Man I haven't used RPG Maker in YEARS, I actually downloaded today and after I came across this thread. I think it would help everyone if they took a peak at what the program can do, that way you can figure out it's limitations. My first idea is romance options, so you could end up with Chani, Harah, Princess Irulan, or others made up characters. So this could be an optional side quest. It would be cool to have these choices even if you don't play Paul. Personally I like side quest to games, it makes them more immersive and expanded, so maybe a smuggler side quest/story, they don't have to be long. As for vehicles if you could manage to make a good looking worm, that would be sweet. I've attached a Blue Eyed Freeman concept I made with Sprite Creator 3 and Photoshop.
  19. Neither use Usul, but we know, we know deep down. Nice find, I had found the CD version myself a bunch of years ago and told myself I had to get it as well. Still have it :) I forget if it's soundtrack or music from, but there are voices from the movies in parts of the music.

Cool, looks nice, never played it.

    visions of a man

The only game I'm hyped for now IS Star Citizen it has lots and lots of potential it's crazy, I just hope it really 'takes off'. Gaming has become a little bit generic in a few places, but Kickstarter and Indie developpers are keeping it alive and varied. My biggest concern other then hopping the game is all I wish for, is to be able to run it. - Cryengine can be demanding to run.
  22. This is cool, also makes me want to eat treats. :)
  23. I love both Versions, but I think I might like this one a bit more, thanks for sharing, I already have it for DVD, but figured Id grab a copy from youtube if ever I'm to lazy to pop it in. Accessibility you know. I think I mostly enjoy the lighting effects and use of color, gives it a little bit of style and flare.
  24. Thanks for the welcome, I liked to hear them talk about Dune and possible games while their where making the art. And I must say the art is very nice. I liked the idea of a game like Dragon Age a bit, the open world one also sounded good, but the worms are so big I wonder how it would work. Personally I think I'd mostly enjoy a mix of RTS and Mass Effect RPG thirdperson, which would basically be twist on the Original Dune game from Cryo. But with some more Real time Strategy. Don't know, the more layers then more interesting it could be, a management RPG perhaps. I've also read on this forum some people don't care about the new books, that could be a good way to force it fown our troat, by making a dune game about the new book. .... I mean I'd play it, and it would possibly create some interest.
  25. Don't know if this has been posted before, I apolizise if it has. I was browsing youtube, and I was curious if anyone had made a Dune Game Pitch, and I sorta found one. \ This is an educational video about how to Pitch a game, and the fake pitch they chose was Dune. Check out the video, you get to hear ideas and see concept art made under you eyes. And the concept art is Great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=905ct2EEbdI The images can be found here.
