I baught it already, its dune, it is the same as buying the prequels for me. you need teh collection. also i did like this one a lot better than the first.

I'm going to go and get it as soon as it reaches this forgotten realm. ::)

Provided the price isn't ridiculously high. If it is, then I'll wait until the price drops a little, since new stuff is usually put on a high price, then lowered as the novelty dies down. I've got Dune on DVD, so this is a must buy for my collection.

i think you should change the option "No plans to buy it" to "I will never buy it because it sucks".

as it is now, the option does not distinguish to those who are indifferent about the whole thing and those who outright think it's terrible and hence will never buy it

I bought it with birthday money around the first of June, watched it for the second time and enjoyed it except for some annoying things which I dont want to say as it may ruin it for you..(as I read this "flaw" in a message board)

Two thumbs up; and why does it always want to make me cry when watching it!?!?(it was very hard to not burst out crying the first time viewing it :'( ) is it the music? or is it just a sad story? I beleive both.

Not change but add one option, which is only viewable by you and me for "some reasons".

Why should I buy it, for what is that device called "video RECORDER"? :O

Because DVD's are cool and it doesn't have a little scifi logo on bottom right corner, also has some "special features"

Although I'm not sure about the VHS version of the mini (if they even released it)

I taped it when it was on TV. Technically, that's illegal. Technically, I care not.

I personally don't think the new mini would have been money well spent, even if I had only watched it, and not taped it.

yes it is. Technically, things like sports, movies, etc cannot be recorded. Copyright laws. It's just that people do it anyway that it's not enforced or anything. Makes you wonder what VCR's are actually for, doesn't it? ;)

Many movies are at late night, if I would watch them, I will fall asleep. I have no mood to watch even Dune on 22:00. That's time for Freelancer...

As I recall, if something's broadcast, and you don't catch it the first time, you can watch a taped version (theoretically only once, I think) later.

i wish i knew the laws with these things.

Isn't it something like you can have a copy for 24 hours and then you delete it? Or is that with video games?

Although it makes you wonder why video tapes are even available for purchase in the first place.....

The 24 hour thing is what people say about warez or pirated ROMs, although I suspect that this "rule" is completely made up, like the idea of games becoming abandoneware/free once they become four years old.

Posted

the abandonware thing isn't a rule, but most old games of that age aren't being sold anymore, the developers have said, "yeah sure, they can be abandonware."

Now if only a miracle would happen and make nintendo, sega, etc. legalise old emulated games....

Posted

So why haven't they been shut down then? It's not like they're hiding behind webrings etc, once games like quake get their source code released, they're effectively free as the wind, such was my impression I suppose.....

There is a corporation called IDSA (I forget what that stands for) that companies like Apogee have joined, which seeks out and stops "Abandonware" websites from posting their games for download. But other than that, it's like warez - who can really stop it? Home of the Underdogs, one of the main legitimate websites for that sort of thing, gladly complies with the wishes of IDSA, as well as those companies/people who request that the download be removed. Also, if it is found that a game is still being sold online (i.e. Chips&Bits), the review will link to that site or online store, rather than a download link.
