First, are you under the impression that when you have a public webserver you get money for maintaining that ?

No, running a dedicated server costs money. i was just wondering how you could make a profit if your services were for free. Anyway, i know now.

To explain a little bit more about it [ as this topic has cleaverly been brought up again ;) ]

The webserver I run is mainly just for fun, mainly hosting sites for friends, personall ones that don't require a lot of bandwidth.

The money comes from a secured storage server for a few companies on it's own dedicated IP combined with security consulting.

[ oh, and the neigbours can use my WLAN as the internet connection around here isn't all that good :) ]

@quondam72

I try to be creative ;)

A few cheap, no free domain names can be found here and the ones I "push up" to mine is here. Cheap paid ones I can't say right now ???

If a host s selling .com domains for $1/year each you can be 99% sure that he/she will be out of business in a few months. A domain name with no/little value would be a .vietnam/china/singapore etc domain. (i don't know the abbreviations)

I run the Ix AI Project at http://www.ixai.org

There is a major update in the pipe, but I'm not quite ready to publish my initial research just yet. Never pay attention to the dates I say I'm going to do stuff by in the news. It gets done when I have time and motivation.

My homepage can be accessed from the homepage there, or directly via http://www.ixai.org/~mdx

Try reading things when you sign up to things, did you read the TOS for this forum? Or any other forum, free accounts, game installations. Or do you just skip them, without a second thought.

Now that we're talking about registration agreements, gobalopper: can you include this board's registration agreement as a reminder when you're not logged in and click on "register"?

Yes this site needs a TOS to keep evil and bad people away.(also for legal purposes)
