lowzeewee Posted January 12, 2003 Author Posted January 12, 2003 the reason y i want an answer because my school pastor keeps telling us that only christians will go to heaven so if i m not an evil-doer and a non-christian,where will i go
rogue1896 Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 *sigh of relief*i actually thought that you did something as bad as murder. god that scared the hell outta me. don't do it again. i'm serious. i'm actually not being sarcastic or trying to be funny.
IxianMace Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 so if i m not an evil-doer and a non-christian,where will i goWell I'm an Atheist, but I heard (or I think) that if you don't believe in 'God', but you don't 'sin', then you go to some place called 'Purgatory, and after some time there, then you go to heaven. Or perhaps you stay in limbo for eternity, I don't know. :P I personally don't believe all this, it's just something I've heard. :-
Timenn Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 I can say that your school pastor is doing really bad. I strongly advise not to listen to him. For why should someone who behaves normally, but believes something else, not go to heaven (I don't think there is a heaven, but lets say there is one)
Frodo Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 if what your pastor is saying is true lowzewwee, then the only possible way to go to heaven is to be a christian. This is not a christian belief. Being a christian, I believe that all religions are pretty much the same, they all revolve around the same beliefs. The only differences are maybe the way you practice the belief, or a slight variation in the belief itself. As a christian you believe in a god, a heaven, and a hell. Some may also believe in pergatory. It doesn't matter which religion you are, Islam, Christian, Jewish, your beliefs are still pretty much the same. So why should one by refuged and the others not? You still believe in the same god, you still exercise your beliefs, the only difference is a change in the name, say from "God" to "Allah". I believe that it doesn't matter what religion you are, as long as you acknowledge god as the savior and the lord, your soul will be spared.
Khan Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 But not many other religions believe in hell. So far as i know.
nemafakei Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 The original question depends on God's religion (atheist, perhaps?). But I'd still say you would, of the two.By christianity: Dante said the nicest of the nine hells was indeed limbo, as Ix mentioned - where you would remain for eternity, I think. I think that purgatory is supposed to be a place where you worked hard to repay for your sins (as a christian).
TMA_1 Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 yeah, purgatory was an idea derived from spurious books written during the early church period. It was adopted for catholics. If a catholic sinned a lot of didnt have the last rights of confession done, he would go to purgatory till his sins were paid off by the suffering there. Then he could go to heaven clean. It smacks of lowering the cross of christ though and is all but abandoned by most non denominational and protestant churchas.
emprworm Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 purgatory is a horrible belief. it was nothing but a get rich quick scheme. "buying" people out of purgatory? lol. as if you could buy God!!
TMA_1 Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 but you can! havent you seen Daystar and TBN? give money to pastors. You will be blessed a 100 fold. ;) lol People never stop amazing me. You are too correct empr.
sneezer3 Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Ok. i'm going to skip over all of this Jibberish and go stright to the question.the reason y i want an answer because my school pastor keeps telling us that only christians will go to heaven so if i m not an evil-doer and a non-christian,where will i goThats the problem. we are all evil doers. we have all sined in the past. and that sin requires a payment. Jesus made that payment on the cross for us. "For the wages<payment> of sin is death, but the gift of God is etneral life though Jesus Christ are Lord"You school pastor knows what he is talking about. however as you can see from the above posts ::) you'l get all kinds of views on here.I can say that your school pastor is doing really bad. I strongly advise not to listen to him. For why should someone who behaves normally, but believes something else, not go to heaven (I don't think there is a heaven, but lets say there is one)Because sin requires a payment, that payment is Hell. Without Gods payment at the cross you will have to pay for your own sins. they have accepted that payment. and other haven't. just like if you get your payment from work. you got 20 dollurs nobody else got that check.
Timenn Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 That school pastor gave me more an idea of violating the freedom of religion constitution
Inoculator9 Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Read Dante'd Inferno, that should tell you something about el purgatorio.
VigilVirus Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 I can say that your school pastor is doing really bad. I strongly advise not to listen to him. I can say that I totally agree with that statement. The school pastor's saying that you'll only go to heaven of you're christian is an example of religious bigotry. Everyone is equal in the eyes of God.
Apollyon Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Read Dante'd Inferno, that should tell you something about el purgatorio.surely Dante's Purgatory would be a better source? :)
nemafakei Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Dante worte in Italian, not spanish. Indeed, he defined italian. So please don't call it 'el'...
Digital Guerrilla Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 The original question depends on God's religion (atheist, perhaps?).No matter if this suppose to be funny or not I found the humor in it. hehehehe
sneezer3 Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 I can say that your school pastor is doing really bad. I strongly advise not to listen to him. I can say that I totally agree with that statement. The school pastor's saying that you'll only go to heaven of you're christian is an example of religious bigotry. Everyone is equal in the eyes of God.i don't mean to start a debate,{oh boy} but you should re-read what i said. Of course we are all equal in Gods eyes, but sin needs a payment. and God payed it. without it no one can make it to heaven. the diffrance is that Christans have accepted and other haven't. but to costantly take that view and say stuff like that i wouldn't agree with. thats like saying everthing else is inferor all of the time. I've got a good example of this. ok say your being taxed<duh everone is> Thats like saying the Goverments is to treat all people eqeal, but yet he taxes everone. But they have to be taxed in order to keep the stystem going. This relates the most i can find to what we are talking about. Sin requires a payment and without that you can't have everlasting life. in the same way people must be taxed, or the econmy fail.
lowzeewee Posted January 15, 2003 Author Posted January 15, 2003 Most religions believe in hell and heaven. My taoist granny burns hell notes for the dead.I want to tell her that its air pollution,a waste of money and paper[but i cant speak her dialect].ANd besides,if u dont write the name of the dead dude on the hell notes, how will he receive it.But what if only christianity is true,u mean the other 2.something billion worshippers of other religions are all worshipping nothing all along?
