Terror Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 World War III: Black Gold is very realistic. It uses actual tanks (like the LeClerc and the T-80) and units need to be resupplied with ammo.Sizes are usually unrealistic in most games. Look how small those tanks are in comparison to infantry in Emperor and Ra2.but action is not realistic, tanks do not have realistic ranges... and they only have cannons don't they? Also in Close combat you have morale and stuff. And tanks do not have Hit points, but they have armor, and a chance that the armor is pierced. Also it matters where it is hit. Some tanks are very vulnerable on the sides and in the back. While others like the T-34 and the Panther are quite well armored everywhere (ofcourse all tanks are best armored in the front).
DukeLeto Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Yeah, not many games are realistic, I mean come on, what generic ground troop can survive 43 hits from a tank? :P
Terror Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 :) anyone played dark colony? that was hilarious... marines had like 70 liters of blood instead of 70% water. No realy, when those chickens attacked those marines there was blood all over the place and the marine wouldn't die... that game was funny.Anyone know postal? no? good, keep it that way. that game is not realistic, that game is sick, pure sick. And what do they do now? they make postal 2 on the UT2003 engine
Khan Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Two of my most realistic games are probably C Strike And MTW although both have some unrealisims
Terror Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Cstrike is a tactical/arcade shooter. Not realy realistic, but comes closer then quake or unreal.and yes i said chickens :). Actually they were some weird sort of alien units, but they had strange blades and they looked a bit like chickens.
exatreide Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 is that anything like tac opps 4 or Airbrone Assult?well i would have to say the most realistic..........Strategic command. or panzer general 3 scroched earth. that game is filled with tech detail.
Andrew Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 most realistic for me would be close combat. so very real. I cant think of any big unrealstic games at the moment.
Caid Ivik Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Unrealistic game is Operation Flashpoint. AK-47 from 80's had no 3-shot limiter!
thomas Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 RENEGADE you have ion cannons stealth dudes and an infantry dies in 3 hits from a heavy tanks and takes forever to die from hte standard gun and the machine gun on hte humvee/buggy takes ETERNITY to kill infantry and vehicles take massive dmg from vehicles :P
VigilVirus Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Unrealistic game is Operation Flashpoint. AK-47 from 80's had no 3-shot limiter!Ya, I'm sure that's the most unrealistic thing you can ever see in the game, lol ;)
Acriku Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 The most realistic Combat simulator is Ghost Recon, hands down.
Anathema Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 World War III: Black Gold is very realistic. Terror Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Unrealistic game is Operation Flashpoint. AK-47 from 80's had no 3-shot limiter!hmmm but overall the game is quite realistic. But I agree with Andrew though. Close Combat games are the most realistic i've ever seen. No game ever came close to that
Caid Ivik Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 OK, there were bigger errors. in F-19 Stealth Fighter had AA-10 missile (armed on MiG-29s) range of 70 km. That's nonsense! It has only 56 km! Not saying about ARMED IL-76!!!!
gryphon Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 No one thought to mention Unreal Tournament .. or Quake ?In the last one there was the "magic jump" key combination that let's you jump so high . . .Black & White, where people can choose to obay a God [ you ] or not to. . . which of those programmes have forgotten the fact that there can be another God.[ just as different world religions nowedays ]GTA3. . . health is low .. . .let's go off and fuc** some one to get it back up. . no one thought of giving one in 3 hookers AIDS so you'll die not using protection . .. said enought about that I hope ::)Command & Conquer, Dune II, Dune 2000, Dune Empr etc . ... who of you has wonderd what they are doing in there when you hear "training" and people are comming out.. . .And yep, where are the good old days with Ordos Yogert, man .. that guy was just so . . . ;DBut he, life goes on. . you always have to leave the good things behind ...For the Linux fans among us, you know Bill Gates has invented cloning a long way back ?Where did you thingk al those little Mr. Gates's come from in XBill .....
Desert_Eagle25 Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Guys, games were created to entertain us, and to set our mind in a new world, to enchant of tales that would never happen in our world. They are meant to be unrealistic. Even counter-strike is unrealistic in almsost every aspect as basicly...we arent soldiers, we arent going to go around camping and killing people with bought weapons, we are people, setting our mind in a different world where we are different people, striding to achieve goals that we might never have in our own. In short, all games are unrealistic.
Acriku Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Which is why we should discern games that claim realism that aren't.
Desert_Eagle25 Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Um are you agreeing or making fun of me?
Khan Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 If you think about it practically every game in the world is unrealistic - I'm never able to reload if I make a mistake, how about you? The only way a game could be realistic is that when you die it quits, uninstalls and never lets you play it ever again. But that wouldn't be fun now would it?
Caid Ivik Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Unreality is on games best. It's fun to lead horde of undead monsters taking over world, but in reality I won't support it ;D
Terror Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 yeah, the question would've been better if he asked about realistic games, as there are only very few games that can be called realistic
Caid Ivik Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 So, no one is realistic, even because it is just a game.
Terror Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 totally realistic no... but close combat I - VI comes close enough
Acriku Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 There has to be a balance of realism, and fun.
