sorry that i say this but i'm in a strange mood today, and frankly i don't give a fuck about anything in the world anymore.. everything is just so unreal. Things that happend I cannot believe. Somehow right now i don't feel bad anymore for all the deaths. We did it all to ourselves.

(tomorrow i'll probably think clear again)

Ixian this is a serious issue, it isn't some reputation of a community at stake, it is millions of lives at stake and the government rightly will not take the risk. Detaining these people may be a good thing to do if it uncovers a single terrorist.

I was not saying that the stake of the community was at risk, I was making the point that because some people within the community went and did some things to tarnish the reputation of the community, that lots of people in the community have to suffer for it. Of course, if detaining people is with good reason (like uncovering terrorists) I have no problem with it, it is just when genuine innocent people suffer, that it becomes unacceptable Acriku.

They aren't being lined up ready for execution, they are just detained, because of other violations such as supposed visa card violations, etc. A lot of innocent, yes, but that is unavoidable.

Unamerican? It happened before to the Japanese in America, so it is becoming sort of a tradition.

Frankly I find it dissapointing that any country can sink this low. Stigmatising muslims while yelling slogans about freedom and equality. Sheesh.

I can't understand why they ('they' may be a less-saying word, but I don't know which part to direct to) do this.

When Bin Laden is trying to set up all moslims against the US, the best thing you can do is to help the muslims in your own country

Well, with that is going on, most political people, not to mention cops, believe they're being "patriotic". Times are rough now. But man, it's just sad how we could do this to eachother, we are all human beings. Living breathing people. We breath the same air, walk the same ground, hell, even make love th same way (except for certain exceptions.. ::) ). When will we stop looking at our differences, and look at the things we have in common?

Posted

It isn't about difference. It's about acting upon the risk of a terrorist living on our soil at this very moment. It's about the lives that will be lost for no reason, for the families that will be tortured with a horrible incident involving terrorism. I say if there is one terrorist in all of California, let's round all possible suspects and catch him.

I'm not surprised. Disgusted, for sure, but not surprised. First it was fingerprinting and photographing, then criminalizing, now they're throwing the whole freakin' bunch of 'em in jail. Idiots. Just plain idiots. This is the Japanese internment all over again. Now all they have to do is reposess the muslim's property and take a 50-year step backwards. Arabian propaganda is going to eat this alive. Hussein will have a field day with this.

This isn't security. A terrorist isn't going to come down to the INS to register. A good citizen will. A peaceful citizen. I don't know what they possibly hope to accomplish by detaining hundreds of arabs, other than angering the Arab world and satisfying the hideous demands of racists who'd have them all executed if they could...

I'd like to hear emprworm's opinion about this. A while ago you said if you found that the government was doing this to citizens in the USA you'd be against it...and here you go:

Islamic community leaders said many detainees had been living, working and paying taxes in the US for up to a decade and had families there.

When Bush came, it looked like we will have at last peace from that american megalomany as Clinton showed. He was so silent, isolationistic. But then came some miserable semits and Bush restarted his cowboy like behavior. Bring him down someone.

Yes we do. The same thing that happened to the Harkonnen in Dune when Muad'hib lead the fremen to victory.

Except for one tiny difference: The Fremen/Muad'Dib wanted nothing more than freedom. These muslim terrorists simply want to KILL. That's sickening.

And besides, they don't respect our immagration laws, they ought to be thrown out. Now if they would only do the same to all these d*mn Cubans in Florida...

I knew US-born citizens were scared, but I didn't realize until now, that they are really scared, because they do such a stupid things like sending to prison (because that's what it is for a few days). When people are REALLY scared start to do stupid things and show it's true deep down feelings, like racism and discrimination.

They correct add made by the US gov should have been " Residens from Iran, Iraq..... must come to register and will be kept in detention based on our true believes about you, now we have the perfect excuse to put you in prision without saying it's racism"

When I think over it, it is nothing unusual. When we are talking about land security, no anti-rasistic or anti-nationalistic arguments don't work. Those innocent do nothing with those terrorists (altough Iraq isn't terroristic country, but yankees don't know where it even is, so how they can know there is a difference between Sunnit and Shi'ite islam), but I'm sure USA government won't harm them. Every one of them is potential nationalistic diversant, you can't expect how they'll feel if they'll see their homeland bombed.

I understand if they arrest people for having the stench of terrorism on them but if they arrest ''immigrant'' who have been living here for over 8 years just because they forgot to register their VISA, that wrong ;D ::). A person should be designated a citizen based on how long he's been in the country not wether he registered for a VISA or not... the whole point of citizenship is that shows you have integrated you'reself into the society in question and how trustworthy you are and I don't see how an immigrant who has been living in America for 8 years is any less integrated into the American society as somebody who was born here or has a VISA...

More importantly... the USA is posed with a difficult question... do you let possible terrorists into America,(not saying anything about muslims just that any immigrant is a possible terrorist and the muslims do have more reason to commit terrorist actions besides, all though most muslims are not terrorists, most terrorists are muslim so you have a better chance of catching a terrorist when checking the muslims in comparison to the chance you'd have of catching a terrorist when checking, say, the Italians...) or do you detain many innocents and give the terrorst propoganda plan something to serve up to it's citizen would create more unwitting terrorists...
