Why can't humans work together to achieve a common goal?

one religion, one language, one way of everything is the reason to start war, there is no other reason. England for example wants the french to live like them, otherwise they call the french strange and stupid, but the french don't want to change. so what do the english do? they make their wishes come true with violence

That was the case 2000 years ago, but the world has now changed. Technology could still be spread without any armed conflicts. China having the technology to make atomic weapons is a very good example.

There is someone in this world called spy, called traitor.

Because of the wars a long time ago, the technology was spread. That has been established. Now, you are suggesting that after those wars, we should just change our everything? Impossible, and improbable. The idealist views are just that, idealistic. We have gotten to where our world is so complex and winded together, that if we were to change one thing we would have to change a lot of other things, most of which cannot be done. Unless you alter our genes, which is still yet to be established, it won't work. We are humans. Perhaps the reason why man's greatest fear is of the unknown is because we know ourselves too much.

The US didn't share their nuclear knowledge, Soviet spies smuggled it after the war and created their first A bomb in 1949.

And no, a single union is not possible, period. We NEED an enemy. If it's not human, then what would it be? The aliens aren't showing up yet...

Earthnuker, why we should have only one religion? There is only one way of salvation, but it has more signs. Same morale rules are preached by islam as like as christians. United world is based on finding mutuality between cultures. Other way is impossible with one planet.

I never claimed we should strife for a single religion- that was some other guy.

Besides, I think it is morally wrong to force everybody to join one religion.

It is inevitable that Humanity will unite in the end. The process has already begun... The only question is when will unification be achieved.

IMO, in evolutionary terms (i.e. if God does not intervene) the future of Humanity (far, FAR future) is to merge into one entity, a collective Overmind, nearly omnipotent. And that would be a good thing.

The purpose of the self is to serve Humanity.

The purpose of Humanity is to guard and spread Life through the universe.

The purpose of Life is to fight entropy and achieve omnipotence.

(not that God would ever allow that to happen, but that is the final purpose of Life)

They mean different things. #1 is the inevitable evolutionary outcome that will happen after many millenia. #2 is just saying that selfless altruism is one of the greatest human virtues. And that you should never put yourself above your fellow man. This is also what Jesus taught.

Like I said...

That's the collective overmind. Ants are the most successful of insects. Evolution favours hive minds. But Humanity will become something greater... a non-corporeal entity. Not a "hive" like an anthill, but like a single, space-faring, bodyless... entity.

Of course, this is all completely sci-fi and just IMO. :)

This is kind of Babylonian Tower. It will eliminate identities and all thinking difference, which brought progress. Spiritual as scientifical. Free will will be gone, and that's against God's creation. You like books like Foundation's Edge? ;)
