You'd need to build a contraption that launches one portion of uranium into another to cause a nuclear explosion. You could build such a thing in a residential house, but the creator is at risk of dieing from the radiation long before he's finished.And there's still the issue of where to get the uranium. I don't think Pakistan has very tough defences around their weapon stores. Relatively to Ladin's resources.To build a uranium purification plant or facility for final collection isn't hard if you have such unsettled country like Afghanistan. Or any other arabic desert land.
