No, the first selectable color is picked out by the AI, and you must have at least one. So too bad :(

There is an option. That is edit the ArtIni.txt. And you on the top of the file, numbers like this (0,133,226) (this is the Atreides standard color)

Well, if you change a color to (175,36,22) you have the Harkonnen red, or change it to (255,0,0) Then you have deep-red

Just try things out

Note: The order the colors are put here, is the same order as in the color list in the game

NOTE!: You don't see your changes in the color list ingame, but you will see it when you are starting the battle

btw, put this ArtIni.txt in your EmperorDataModel folder (create it if it doesn't exist

I doubt it, because I think it's logical that the ArtIni.txt is checked too, before playing. But maybe not this piece. Since it makes no point in the game who has which color.

I'll say: try it out...

Use at least a 3 player map (don't worry you can still play with 2 plyaers) turn on both of the computers at first. Then turn off the red computer. Now choose red. Now you can turn whatever computer players you want on, and can have the red colour. (I think this works... havn't played emperor for like 8 months...)

Yah the AI is absolute rubbish in emperor... I could use the most abstract and ineffective bo's and still win every time on hard ;D. The AI in wc3 is much more challenging, but it doesnt have difficulty levels...

Now ut2k3 has godly AI if you put it on godlike ;D It'll slap you around like a school girl if you try it on that setting.

i remember an impressive AI for quake, oh no it wasn't an AI. it cheated. It calculated projectiles travels and it calculated where you would be at a certain moment so he exactly knew when to shoot and where. So he shoots always like 4 meters ahead of you and dodges all your shots :) it is incredible to see.

I can get just about any colour I like in skirmish now. I've changed the artini.txt so that all the colours are different. If you like, send me an unchanged artini.txt file and tell me what colours you want me to add. You'll have to say which colour equals which colour code (e.g. blue = deepblue, red = deepred, green = lime, etc) because I can't change the way the preferences look in the game setup screen, only the way the structures and units look in the actual game.
