Non-Acronym Terms that Emperor PLayers use either in the chat lobby or at game-time.

"Swap": At start of game-time, if your partner says "swap" he is requesting that you build on his base and he builds on yours.

"got 1 up": If you receive this page, it means that the player is hosting a new game

Ducker: someone is accusing you of being a coward simply because you refused to cave into their demands and play them in a Quick Match or Battle Clan. You could be busy, you could have other things you need to do, or perhaps you just want to play a skirmish with your buddy, but it doesn't matter to the accusing player who feels you are under obligation to play him according to his demands.

spice here (or) I spice there: This is a situation where you or your teammate is placed in a dangerous location relative to your opponents so that one of you needs to build your refineries on the others base.

"Engr Drop" - this term means that an opponent is using an advanced carryall to deliver an APC (armored personnel carrier) vehicle containing one or more enemy engineers to attempt to steal one or more buildings in either you or your partners base. If you hear this term at game-time, it is of the most urgent matter (THE most urgent term in the game). It means that an engineer drop is currently in-progress and you must immediately cease whatever you are doing and coordinate with your partner to stop/fight it.

"Harvie Hunting, Harv Hunt, Spice Camping, Camp in Spice" - these terms refer to the tactic of an opponent targetting your Spice Harvesters and/or Harvester Carryalls either through quick strike seek-and-destroy, or by statically placing multiple units in your spice field to auto-attack your spice units. This is an acceptable tactic among good players, however, the term can also refer to the wanton and gratituous abuse of deliberately putting hoardes of units to sit around and kill every spice vehicle you have, even though you are clearly defenseless and your base is weak enough to be easily destroyed. Dishonorable players will sometimes do this in order to "rub it in" and/or extend their indulgent victory over you, refusing to kill you and instead forcing you to watch them "own" you.

"Lag": When used in game, this term means that a player is complaining that the speed of the game is too slow for his/her standards

"Ally": This is a request / demand that a player is making at game-time that his designated partner should press the "tab" key on his keyboard and declare an alliance by selecting the appropriate box. This action should always be done immediately at game-time, lest you hear this unhappy message.

"I cant deploy!": This is the unfortunate occurance of a player's ALT key on his keyboard being stuck, and the player is unable to deploy his MCV at the start of the game. Simply tell the frustrated player to press his ALT keys a bunch of times on his keyboard to "un-stick" them, and he will be fine.

"Sry, [your name], waiting 4 someone" (or similar) Terms used in a lobby game room to indicate that your presence is not wanted for any of various reasons and that you should humbly leave the room. This is a much better method than simply kicking someone w/o warning, which is considered rude by most players.

"Rush Top [or other location], Rush Hark [or other house]": This term spoken by your partner at game time means he is requesting a coordinated early double-rush attack on a single opponent and wishes to strike as soon as possible.

"ally chat": This term, referring to game-time chat, means to speak only to your ally so that your opponents cannot hear you. This is done by pressing "tab" on your keyboard and de-selecting your opponents under the CHAT column.

"inf war, infantry war": A request made by a player, in a game lobby, asking that all players agree to an "infantry only war" where the only authorized units are infantry, spice vehicles and spice carryalls.

"Turret": A request at game-time made by your partner that you need to construct a turret ASAP. If your partner is being attacked, then you should cancel whatever you are building in order to save your partner (except in the rare case that you are making your first ref and it is more than 3/4 done or cancelling it would put you under the limit needed to make one after a turret). This request is also made if your partner completes a successful engr drop (see term in this list) and needs you to construct turrets in the enemy base.

"random": A request made by a player, in a game lobby, asking that one or more players randomize one or more of their main house or sub house(s) by right clicking on the house/sub-house icons so that a question mark is displayed.

"ref first, fac first, bar first, (or) ref b4 fac": Terms used to describe the first structure (after a windtrap) that a player constructs at game-time, where ref=refinery, bar=barracks, and fac=factory. Usually the term "ref first" or "ref b4 fac" (refinery before factory) is used in a derogatory sense to new or inexperienced players who construct a refinery first in a game with enough money to make a factory prior to a refinery and as a result of this error, they die a quick death due to an opponents rush.

"worm!": An urgent warning given to you by your partner at game-time that a sandworm (usually ridden by a fremen but also could be due to living world), is heading towards friendly units requiring your instant attention. Or if you are sardcore, this term means that emprworm needs to watch the map and get his lazy #$$ into the action.

oh ffs this board has gone to the babies

must there be stupid, pointless idiotic threads like this that have nothing to do with Emperor? I urge the Mods to delete this thread as well as the just-as-idiotic "Sticky" thread at the top of this Forum.

I believe a Ducker is someone who selects Quick Match or Battle Clan Match to play ... then whenever someone does get matched up in QMs or enters a BCM game ... they back out of the game due to who had just entered.

If someone is in a custom game waiting for it to fill up with other players ... If they receive a IM or someone enters that game to challange someone ... they should not be considered duckers.

The only time someone should be obligated to play a QM or BCM is when they have selected to play that game period.

Who cares what you have to say Nav? If I read some of your previous statements ... you don't even play anymore ... so don't give anyone crap about trying to help other players out and who is playing the game ... so take your mile-wide yellow back self and simply disappear.

Thanks, Oper. That is some good clarification, to which I agree. However people will call you a ducker just for not playing them at their demands, even if you are in a skirmish room. However, if you are in a QM or in a BC room, and refuse to play a challenger coming to your court, then you are a ducker- UNLESS YOUVE ALREADY LOST TO THAT PERSON THIS MONTH! (important). If you were brave enough to play that person and/or clan once this month, and got beat, you are ABSOLUTELY NOT obligated to play them again, even IF they come to your room. Now, if you beat them and they come to your room for another game, then you should play them. Again, good points. Thanks for adding your viewpoint.

As far as I've heard, infantry war does not allow you to involve harvesters or carryalls. Infantry wars are usually (if not always) done on non-spice maps (Caladan, Giedi Prime, Draconis). The reason being because harvesters can be used as weapons to crush infantry, and it is too much of a bother to manage an economy while you're managing all your infantry units.

I've been called a ducker via pages on WOL since the 15th of the month for QM games ... many people don't know that each member of Few*Jr was challanged with some goals for the month of September -- Top 50 QM ladder and 100 BCM points -- if they met those goals by the end of the month; they will be promoted into the senior clan *FEW*. With the number of points that I have won so far -- I'm hopeful that it will hold for a top 50 finish and thus be able to drop the *Jr part of my clan tag ... it is something that I've worked very hard for. Unless my standings on the ladder drop below the top 50 - I for one don't plan on touching the Quick button or accepting any challanges for a QM match -- I hope everyone understands that. (I know that Nav will unboubtly put his 2 cents in on this but I take what he says with a grain of salt since he isn't even playing the game currently)
