So in summary: On brute force alone, the Dev wins, but the mino is a more versatile unit and could win if used properly.

         Now look - the Deva costs 2500$. The Mino costs 1400$. You can get two Minotaurs and 1 Atreides light infantry for the price of a Deva. The Deva has only one way to win if the Minotauruses and the infantryman have the high ground - to fire at them until his health is red and then self - destruct - I've tried it. Westwood have balanced the game just right.

         Also, the Devastator is not the absolute king of the battlefield - there is one thing that beats it in a 1 on 1 combat - a Fedaykin on a Worm!!!!

Most units can beat it if they are used in the correct way and formation!!!!  Even light infantry!

I believe different versions have different prices. As they would have modified it to make more balance in the game.

Assuming 1300 and 1750, that's 1 Mino, 1 light infantry, and 1 trike per Dev.

This one seems pretty obvious. If the Devastator has been dropped via Advanced Carryall next to the Minotaurus, it'll blast it to bits. If it has to march to get it in range, the Minotaurus can keep shooting at it and walking away until the Devastator is dead. (The Minotaurus may be slow, but it can still outpace a Devastator!!)  ;D

Never try Devastator drops on Harkonnen. It will be a waste of time and money. Against the Atreides, you have to watch out for their Air Drones and Rocket Turrets. Mongeese shouldn't be a problem as long as the Advanced Carryall isn't hit more than twice. But with that many Devs coming all at the same time, chances are lots of them will make it through, and then the enemy base will be sharpnel.  ;D

With the Adv Carryall + Deva rush, why bother for a lost deva? When you can build that much you don't look one a deva or one more...

Devastator is one inaccurate and catastrophically slow machine. Minotaurus too. Why you're talking about primitive tanks, when you have powerful infantry like Sardaukars available?

For price of one Devastator you can train 8 normal Sardaukars or 16 Kindjals. Also, Devastator is unusable without a carryall, what's another 1800 credits. Really cool unit.

It should be used only against other slow and dear craft like mentioned Minotaurus or Kobra.
