Is there anyway to find out if someone has added you to there buddy list, or does the person who's been "buddied" get a notification or something?

I'm going to say no. You know who is on your buddy list, you don't need to know who is on other people's list. We don't need a thread about it.

Yes. If you look under people's avatar there is the option to 'Send IM'

I'd imagine it is something that is coded into the SMF Forum design and isn't really used on FED2k.  It probably allows you to see if someone is online, even if they hide their online status, or gives you a shortlist of who to send your PMs to.

Like I say, that's just speculation, though.  I don't use the Buddy system. :)

I don't think it's very relevant on a forum. It's not like you have a Who's Online list of your close friends with whom you're going to communicate immediately.

Someone should be notified if they get someone signing them up as friends, but I guess you can just PM, but it'd just be more convenient.
