nampigai
In the original Dune book you don't hear of an alliance between the two houses, it's Brian and Kevin who thought it up.
Dunenewt
in the original dune book r they House Vernius or just Ix
nampigai
it's just IX house Vernius isn't mentioned in the original books
Vanguard3000
They never mention House vernius at all in the originals. in fact, when I first read the originals, I though of Ix as being a paralell faction to the Great Houses. By that I mean that they weren't a part of the Landsraad, much like the Tleilaxu or Bene Gesserit.Although you don't hear much about Ix in the originals until GEoD. before that it's just small references, like mentioning that lasgun X was of Ixian manufacture, etc.
Ordos_Executrix
"Houses Major: Holders of planetary fiefs;Interplanatery Entrepanuers' So sayeth the book of Muad'Dib err i mean dune and i would describe Tleiaxlu and definitly Ix as Entrepanuars. Vanguard3000
They didn't hold feifs though, per se. they never really mention it in the originals. As I said though, I was under the impression they were paralell to the Great Houses. And the Tleilaxu are definately not a Great House. It even sais in House Atreides that they had never aquired the prestiege to be nominated as one.
garth
The Ixians are like CHOAM, the Bene Tleilaxu, and the Bene Gesserit. They are not a Great House, but a Confederacy (so sayeth Dune Messiah hehe :))
Vanguard3000
Thank you, Shaddam. That's exactly what I was trying to say. Although I didn't know they made a direct reference to it.
Asdrubaal
They're called Bene Tleilax, not -Tleilaxu; cuz thats only when you refer to them as an member or a people. The organization is called Bene Tleilax.
Vanguard3000
Both Tleilaxu and Bene Tleilax could be used.
Gunseng_Harkonnen
In the book is Bene Tleilax, in game Tleilaxu. But both are correct
Vanguard3000
Gunseng: they're called both in the books as well. The Tleilaxu are the race/"nationality" (like "Caladanian" or "Ixian"). As Asdruubal said, the Bene Tleilax is the "official" name of the organisation of the Tleilaxu people (like the Great Houses, but lesser as far as prestiege goes). Gunseng_Harkonnen
Yes, everybody knows that, IMML.Caladanian are Atreides! :)! the last revelation
Vanguard3000
"Caladanians" are the people of Caladan, not just the Atreides. I assime it's Caladanian, because in the later books, they refer to something that came from Dan (later name of Caladan) as Danian.
