  1. Hmm my most effective qm rush (and trust me it works - I'm rank 4 with 14 wins 0 losses 306 pts right now) is to build 6 dusties followed by 5 lasers, with at least 10 chems, 3 aa troopers. I usually hit him from all angles. I keep my 5 aa troopers, kobra and mortar in his spice field to kill harvies, while my lasers harass his units with hit and runs and if there's a side entrance I bring my chems in to take out his refs. By the time my lasers are building I have a second fac, then once I get my economy going I add some feds (I've almost always won by then though...) Against good atr turtles the key is to hit them from every possible angle. If my rush fails, I chew away at his force with fremen snipers and lasers, while building up my base to get NIABs, and sometimes even EITS if he's not watching.
  2. LOL notice how bilbo isn't responding. ::)
  3. Hence the "trainer" reference. That's what trainers do - modify the configuration settings (rules.txt).
  4. Actually connection speed is a pretty small factor in game speed. As long as the game is running smoothly, that's most important. You can make the game run fast by either having a top notch system on high graphics settings or a lower end system ond low graphics settings. Also, if you have a low end machine, you don't have to suffer from terrible graphics. Disable shadows and put everything else at medium. Shadows are by far the worst gamespeed consumers in the game.
  5. Yeah, everyone is saying that the old "generation" (like me) is leaving the game, but the new guys are getting better and are carrying the game now. Yes it's very hard to get a game at certain times of the day, but go on during late-evening UK time or afternoon NA time and there's tonnes of games.
  6. Relax, this is nothing new. Out of sync wash games are (almost) always the result of one of the players activating a trainer. What makes "Out of sync wash games" different from ordinary "Wash games" is that wash games can occur naturally through a server F-up or a player disconnecting. Out of sync wash games are a red flag for WW employees that the player is cheating. They have an automatic system in place where if the player has more than X number of OOS wash games in a month, they're banned.
  7. Really? I can stand a month or two off...I'm sick of seeing 30ker @$%!heads at the top of the ladder. Time do change it. 8)
  8. Go to this site: http://download.com.com/3000-2094-904292.html?tag=lst-0-2 The program is called Quick Screen Capture. It allows you to take multiple screenshots at once without having to paste and save in paint all the time. You specify a folder for the screenshots to go to, and each time you press printscreen it saves them as "Picture1" "Picture2" etc. You can also choose save name and file type - either bitmap or jpeg. Keep it running while you play emp. Should anything interesting present itself, press printscreen and it'll save automatically.
  9. 30k is SSSOOOO boring... It defeats the whole aspect micromanaging quick units of the early game, which is almost an art in itself. It basically skips all the dusties, bikes and saws and becomes a contest of "Who can make the most minos, NIABs or gunships the fastests". I'm good for any setts that resemble qm. -surlypig
  10. Bah! You will regret leaving PIG. Bug gl all the same...
  11. I'm game, HOBBTZ is going down.
  12. playerap I've whomped you to the moon and back more than once and I'll gladly do it again. Next time I see you I'll put you on a platter.
  13. "granted they play on their setts most of the time" LMOA. Try ALL OF THE TIME. Your clan has *NEVER* (yes, that's right, in all the months they've been cheating their way to the top) actually joined someone else's game. Bilbo, you're like a good baseball pitcher, in that you have NO BALLS. If you're cocky enough to call yourself "Master of all" and "owning this game" then have the balls to step up, be a man, show some guts and come out of the little cave you dig yourself into so pathetically each and every month. After all, any true "champion of emperor" should prove themselves, no? How about this; Consider it formal that I issue an open challenge for you to play qm games for a month. If you should achieve a rank even remotely respectable, I'll leave this game. If you don't, you'll leave. Aceept? (lol like that'd happen) And this whole posing as someone else to try and clean up your image...I think it's obvious you're desperate. You've been on a binge for attention ever since you have realized that nearly EVERYONE in this community hates your guts for being such a loud-mouthed, egotistical, trash-talking, ducking coward. Well I have some news for you - you will NEVER redeem yourself unless you actually grow a pairs of balls from the underside of the hollow of your groin that embraces a penis in a normal man. In short, nobody is going to forgive you if you continue acting like such a wanker. Until you stop, nobody will have any respect for you as a player, a competitor or even a human being with genitals (if that). PS to gob and everyone else - yes this sounds like flaming and I've put it very bluntly but I speak not a word of a lie. How can the truth be flaming?
  14. I see, I like. In fact, I think it's worthy of becoming a hosted site of dune2k, should you wish it to be and should gobalopper allow it...It deserves better than geocities.
  15. Hehe, I've been rushing and getting rushed since the game came out. There are a few things I've learned... 1) A "Rush" is an attempt to reach a spot that will give you a tactical advantage. In a rush, this spot is your enemy's spice field. For EVERY house, if you can reach that tactical spot first and defend it adequately, then you are at an advantage. 2) If two forces meet of the same size and same house (IE two simple dust and chem rushes with kobra in back), the defender will almost always win. 3) There is only one way that the rusher will be able to win; micromanaging. You must make your enemy's strength his weakness. If he has tonnes of dusts scouts early, use that to your advantage. The combo of lasers and infantry in the early game is a very effective, anti-dust scout force. 4) Rushes are only effective if they are aimed at the weakest point. By default, this is the spice field, because the enemy units are not there when the game starts. If he moves them there quickly, and defends the position before you can make your move, then attack the next weakest spot (perhaps it is a small entrance at the back of his base). 5) If you're going to rush, make it count. A failed rush is terrible for your economy. All that wasted cash could have been put to better use in a more late-game directed strategy. My biggest point is that I learned the "art" of the rush inside and out through playing all out, every game. Obviously, this won't be to useful for the sluggish atreides, but you only get better at defending a good rush by playing a good rusher. If you quit under three you deny yourself that opportunity.
  16. In skirmish games, anyone can kick. In 4 player games, any of the three players who didn't disconnect can kick the d/cer by clicking the "big red button". It's not like TS or RA2 where you would elect to kick a player. In qm and BC nobody can kick at all. If you're in a skirmish 1v1 and you kick someone, you won't really know who actually d/ced. Of course, your WOL will get disconnected, but that might be coincidental. In games with three players or more, if you're the one who's getting disconnected, if you kick someone, the next name will pop up then the one after until you are alone. If someone kicks you this also happens.
  17. WHAT?! You know I don't duck cerb, I must have either been waiting for qm or game was loading...
  18. Umm there are lots of maps that give atreides players advantages too like sampa, fisher's plain, and even divided country. And the spice does run out in canyon channel for all spots - it just takes longer for the bottom spot but that's ok 'cause the bottom spot has to defend his spice, but in the top left spot you can just move your units to the choke point (and on the rocks of either side) and your spice is totally protected - how fair would that be? But yeah the aprit chard bug is very annoying. The player on the bottom has a HUGE disadvantage in games that last more than 5 minutes.
  19. Nice work there max. Heh, you should make one for clan too. ;) But aside from the champs page you could make a monthly ranking page and post the top 10 for each house. If you need someone to help weed out the cheaters then I'd be happy to help out. I've exposted more than a few people for cheating and have a general understanding of how it can be done. And x40k, do are you also xtycho?
  20. Thanks for the help gob! Rather speedy, too...
  21. This is ace here, ACElethal on the old boards. I finally got around to registering and I discovered my name's already taken! Check in the member list yourself. It's wierd, though, because he hasn't even posted! Technically, whoever registered it got it first, so I guess it's his. But it's kind of distressing because if he posts in my name and says something stupid then others might think it's me! :'( Is there any sort of proceedure to follow for something like this, or is it "finders keepers ace weeps".
  22. I'm the 900th poster in this topic! JEEZ - this is big. Anyway, a friend of mine had a very similar problem, rees. He's a real computer wiz, I'm not much of one at all, but he fixed his by setting some very strange options with his video card and game graphics settings to get his to work...I'll ask him what he did next time I talk to him.
