So, I started to study English, when I was on... third grade ( I was 9 years old). I thought myself, that English was pretty easy and I learned lot and fast. Got 10 of English (10 is the best) to the school report. When reaching the fourth grade, I got 10 from EVERY test. And again, got 10 to the school report. on fifth grade I got only 9 to the school report, but I was still pretty good. Now I am at sixth grade, and I am moving to upper level comprehensive school. Well, our English teacher kept few tests for this year, offcourse. I got 10+ from the first, 9 and

Just a few things,

1. It's we had to write

2. Your class mate is worse than you, not worster

3. You english teacher lowered it, not lovered it.

Aside from that I feel really sorry for you man, it sucks when other people get awards that we deserve bu hey that's life huh.

Did the student with poorer English skills actually receive better grades? If the other student beat your scores, then that means you need to work harder not to get that 9 or 9.5. One of the most important things you can do is make sure you proof read the paper several times before submitting it. English is my native language and I still make mistakes as can be witnessed in these forums. The whole problem with language courses and especially writing courses is that a lot of teachers bring their own bias into play when grading. I suggest you figure out what your teacher likes to see in a paper. Submit early copies for the teacher to point out where your mistakes are. You can revise it and there should be little doubt about what your grade will be.

A pity, especially with something like a scholarship. Unfortunately, there's nothing can be done about save question as to why - have you asked whoever it was that approportions such things?

Actually, no.

I got my school report today. The English teacher gave me 10, but she said that she is going to give 9. Oh well, 10 is allways better... ::)

My friend got the scholarship, and my English teacher doesn't want to tell, why. :-

I read my Dune essay again... It has only... 12 errors... :O

"Elaborate, long story! Excellent!"

And the funny thing is, Mikko got only 10 euros, while I got 20 euros (Mikko's scholarship was from our school and mine from club called "Lions Club"). Our school is poor! ;D

I think it's "got 10 points ON the school report", as I recall.

Correct me if I'm wrong, just a heads up.

Well, there is the "Another Sardaukar tale".

The great emperor Shaddam II was worried, because Arrakis' natives, Fremens were terrorizing the melange production. The melange, also known as "spice"

Nonsense! Studying foreign languages is an incredible experience. Ok, so maybe I'm biased...

:-)

I was somehow kidding Nema. Because in regards to english I still remember my bad experience trying to understand it while I visited Tupelo, Missisipi (US), I couldn't understand that southern accent, grrrr.

I am having much fun though, learning german.

Well, personally I always found English very easy. Reason being that almost all TV broadcasting and games are "infested" with English language ;)

Wie viele Jahren hast du Deutsch gelernt?

Ich habe durch zehn Jahre Deutsch gelernt, aber ich spreche nicht so gut Deutsch.

I`ve learned german all my life, and as you can see, my german sucks like my english, because all my teachers sucks, especially the English teachers.

The little English I know is thanks to movies, games and my german.

The most horrible thing I must learn about a language is the gramatic(sp?) or "Grammatik".

What I look forward to learn is French, but it'll have to be in a year or so, once I finish german, which I like very much. But so far I realized that French will have it's most difficult part at pronunciation.

You know what I always loathed? Verb conjugation. I could never quite get the hang of that. Especially in French where verbs are "to [action]" instead of just "[action]". I spent many hours trying to make that habitual and never did. I would always have to make a little chart of common pronouns and the correct conjugations for each verb.

don't worry, no one can!

anyway,

that essay was really good for not having english as a first language most of it was spelling errors and sentences could have been re-written a little differently:

"You die ein thirstness"

should be "You die of dehydration"

"There are few possiblities, how to die in Dune"

should be "There are a few possibilities of how you would die on Dune"

"to the Arrakis" -leave out 'the'

"Group of Fremens kills you"

should be "A group of Fremen kill you"

"Guild is monopolying the space travelling"

few ways to fix this one... i would probably use "The Guild has a monopoly on space travel"

"Squads pilot, Grace flew the 'thopter like a master" put a comma (,) after Grace as well

"shooted few Fremens and ran, shooted again, ran, and so on"

well there are a couple ways you could fix/rewrite this one this is how i would do it:

"shot a few Fremen and ran while continuing to stop and fire often"

a lot of the rest is missing simple things such as an 'a' in the middle of some sentences. also Fremen is plural and singular.. similar to sheep and sheep, moose and moose, etc.

"imppossible" - has 1 'p'

and you have several commas in your sentences which are not needed

I just looked the original essay paper, and my teacher has changed the sentence "Group of Fremen kill you" to "Group of Fremen kills you"... :O

By the way, I had to do that essay in an hour.

Thanks for the fixes.

Eh? Oh you mean the infinitive? That's the same in English and most languages then. =)
