I am not going to list stuff that makes you a liberal or conservitive, it is something you choose within yourself and your belief systems that you hold. I wont put you within a box for that so you guys must choose black and white here. Are you a liberal? or a conservitive? There are no fence sitters. If you slant just the slightest towards liberalism, then you must say you are liberal, since you have more views towards that side than the other. I just have noticed that there are a lot more liberal forum posters than conservitive. List here. :)

Moderate. Some things are good the way they are, the others need firm and decisive action. (Firm and decisive in the same paragraph as moderate? Is my mind gone?)

I am conservative in morale, economics, politics. If you change morale it leads to chaos. When you try to ride an economy for change, it brings just fall. And politics are based on these two.

Of course, in ways like science, health or education I am progressive as well - if it doesn't hurt the values I believe.

Conservativism of morale is based on remaining in thoughts, which I've received from my parents. My family never had any slave and as I am christian, believing in equality and love for others, I think slavery is a bad thing. I don't have 'my' morals, I'm trying to be morale by christian laws, in which I am conservative.

By christian laws and customs, how many slaves do you have?

My point is, some things need to stay, and some need to go. That's why I am neither conservative, or liberal. I decide on a case-by-case system.

By christian laws I have 0 slaves. Christian laws permit 0 slaves. There are still many things on world which need to be improved. But number of allowed slaves (that I mean 0) is a thing from which I won't step back.

It was custom among christians (but not only christians of course) to hold slaves back in the days of BCE, and if you were conservative (in the extreme) in your morals, you wouldn't think slavery would be a bad thing.

I am conservative in Jesus' teachings. Read i.e. John's attacking "double morale" of first christians in Revelation. I am also against things like burning witches (altough this ritual was based on pagan traditions) or fightning "in the name of God" (altough these fights were more in the name of king). If you have healthy mind, you can conclude from ten commandments or evangelium they are violating christian morale.

I am definitely a conservative. I thourougly oppose the many immoralities that people commit on a cotidien basis, and would like enforcement of common decency. Secondly, I believe strongly that the needs of the many surpass the luxury of the few.

That is not to ay that I oppose change at all costs; the key is to embrace change, but try to retain advantages of previous systems where, by remaining, they will not hinder, and accept advantages that change brings also.

However, this bears little rlation to my views on how the government of a country and economy should function.

Well, morally speaking, I am a conservative myself. I oppose the current state of social decay and moral decadence.

However, we can never go back to the way things were in the past. We can only go forward. By its very nature, conservativism is doomed to fail. It always has.

wtf... lol slavery was not a tradition, so dont make this a christian argument acriku, I didnt intend for this thread to turn into a whipping against any faith system or philisophical belief. simply about politics. If you want you can attack that till you are blue in the face.lol

In some way I'm extremly conservative, for instance I have a dream of creating a scandinavian union, based on the true pre-christian Scadinavian culture, but in econamics I'm rether leftish.

TMA simmer down, I was using that to make my point that to be entirely conservative is closed-minded and ultimately destruction. You must be open to liberal ways, even if you don't accept them for now.
