gryphon
The favicon applies to http://www.dune2k.com and http://dune2k.com. Not to the forum domain.(working for me in Opera and IE)
Andrew
Ok, yes it works on main website for me.Is the reason it is not applied to forum because of bandwidth issues? File is 20kb, so probably the reason if it is constantly being used (although it should get cached). Our avatars are only ~2kb for comparison.I remember we had this discussion several times over the past decade, most likely in this very thread. D2k Sardaukar
yeah, I'm having a deja-vu too :-X
Dragoon Knight
Oh. Well I don't see me bookmarking the main site just to get a Favicon working. :PI understand if it's bandwidth problems, but that must have been a while ago. Surely 20kb, cached for all regular users, wouldn't be too much?
gryphon
I doubt it's a bandwidth problem. Gob just forget to link to the image, or put another one in the forum's folder as it's working for me now. :)
D2k Sardaukar
yeee, it's working. thanks :Dperhaps this one is nicer...compared to this one:(which I suggest you resize to 16x16 or include smaller versions, can be done with free gimp)
Andrew
Hmm, still not showing up and I did a ctrl+shift+r to clear site cache. But now looking at thumpers post http://forum.dune2k.com/favicon.ico image is not showing up for me. So maybe my adblock is blocking it, but I have no idea why it would. disabled adblock+ and it showed up in link, but is not on forum yet. :( enabled adblock+ and it is showing in thumpers post. But ctrl+shift+r still not getting it to show up in bookmarks or tabicon or addressbarShouldn't be adblock as link was working when I last posted, can't find any related links in adblock database.EDIT:icon works fine on windows+firefox+adblock. Maybe it'll work when I boot back into ubuntu.EDIT:Hurray! working in ubuntu firefox now.
Dragoon Knight
I was going to make a post earlier about the favicon still not working under Firefox, but it looks like it was probably just something akin to a DNS issue. Everything seems to be working fine on the icon front. It is most refreshing. :)EDIT: Oh lord, pun not intended.
Gobalopper
The file in the forum was just an empty favicon.ico file so that is why nothing was displaying earlier. Not sure why... it wasn't a bandwidth issue as we have lots of that. I just replaced it with the one used on the actual website which is why it works now. Andrew
Umm, pretty big spam attack today.
Dragoon Knight
Yeah, the user I've seen do the most damage is kruthika. The bot seems to copy a paragraph of legitimately posted material from other threads in the board, use a scrap of that paragraph as the thread title, then add on spam hyperlinks to the end of the post.I think it's safe to say that he can be banned, and all of his posts deleted. >:(
Gobalopper
Yes that would be a very safe assumption. :)

Gobalopper
You can just use the report to moderator link on their post. It is faster as it will send any moderators of that board an email.
Andrew
I got some emails about spammers in duniverse board, although I don't check that email address often. The worst part about that is if I notice spammer, report it, someone else notices same spammer, reports it, people can get multiple emails about same post/spammer.some forums have a delay in first posts, so that a moderator can check the message to make sure it is not a spammer, and after first or second post gets accepted, then they can post normally. Is that possible with this software?
exatreide
How about the ability to embed youtube video? Fed2k is one of the few forums I visit that doesn't have this function.
Andrew
So, last couple days porn spam has been on the rise.Is it possible to implement a system for new members to have their first post moderated? This would stop most of this bad spam. I've suggested it before. Many other forums do this.First post approval link at SMF forum.Version 2.0 RC of SMF has this. Sadly it is still in development, so hopefully this forum gets updated once it is released. Are mods having a fun time with their inbox getting full of complaints? :P
Dunenewt
How about the ability to embed youtube video? Fed2k is one of the few forums I visit that doesn't have this function.http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=977This could work? But perhaps have it limited to only certain people so that we're not flooded with videos.
Gobalopper
We had some server issues the last day or so. Should be back up and running now. As per usual you can check our hosts status page if the server is not loading for you. It's located here:http://status.dreamhost.com/
