ahh another rant by the T dog. yeah... lol

I notice that certain people think they know their views and back them up by internet "sources". I have not once seen a book citation once by them either. I wont name these people or the person. It is really dumb though. Many of these people religiously argue about issues but are just emoting and dont listen. I mean the stoics were great for their debate and understanding of getting to an issue. The leaders in the parthenon knew what they are talking about. You guys though that spout crap that you take from your own warped opinion and back it up with internet sourcesa re full of it. geesh

rant is done.

since when did the internet become an invalid source for information?

For example, here is a source I use for astronomical information and recent discoveries made by Hubble. http://www.nasa.gov/ I was just wondering: what makes it such an invalid source? What source do you have that is better? A book published in 1992 containing information that is more than a decade old? Who's source would be more reliable?

in college, many classes wont allow you to use electronic (internet) sources. I know this from experiance. The reason why is because you do not know if the source is from a respected person and have no proof of it all the time. Internet is often very bias or fake.

He is just upset because he has nothing to say and his sources are boring. Book or the internet does not matter both could be false. Tell us how would you tell the difference Mr. Know-it-all?

If you're referring to my topic, it's not even from an internet source. It's mostly from a weekly magazine, and some parts were taken from the news. I didn't add anything I made up.

Besides, different people can take the same source to be false or true. Take the Bible, for instance. I don't really think it's a reliable source of information, namely because I am an athiest. Edric O, on the other hand, stalwartly believes every word of it. The reliability of a source of information depends heavily on your perspective.

He doesn't. He said he believes in evolution, wich isn't in the bilbe ::)

Well, if TMA says something it must be true. We must all bend to the will of his majesty. Lol.

Actually I've been told by my profs that they don't like students using Internet sources because the page could move or the site could be down when they check it out. I don't think the Internet is any less valid then other sources. You just have to look at who wrote it and their reputation, if it is written by someone who is unrecognized or a known hack it doesn't matter what form it was written in.

interesting that world-renown archaeologists at the Smithsonian Institute would disagree with you.

In short, it is impossible to verify the actual events recorded in the Biblical account of the flood. On the other hand, much of the Bible, in particular the historical books of the old testament, are as accurate historical documents as any that we have from antiquity and are in fact more accurate than many of the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, or Greek histories. These Biblical records can be and are used as are other ancient documents in archeological work. For the most part, historical events described took place and the peoples cited really existed.

lol, ok. problem is, Earthnuker, I really don't know what the topic is. i mean look at the thread title- "I know everything!"

So, what exactly, am I supposed to be posting about?

IMO, information on the Internet is not invalid, but it should not be the entire composition of your argument(s). You should seek other sources of information to be sure (or at least more confident) that the information that you're getting is accurate. Internet data isn't 100% accurate or reliable, but how can we be sure that anything is? The best thing to do is to just get as many sources of information as possible, and if they all agree with one another (i.e. the information that they're supplying does not contradict the information from other sources) then I think that that would make the probability of the accuracy of the information higher. But that's just my opinion. ::)

Only 1 thing can be posted about this topic: a person knowing everything does not exist. :O

How do you know? Do you know every single person in existence and can tell that they don't know everything? :P

nah I have been told by my history and physics instructors to be careful about internet sources. They are often more faulty. You can put whatever the heck you want online and it is hard to make it reputable. Books on the other hand have to be good enough to be published and have to be highly acclaimed and read to be study worthy. Skywalker is just kinda upset because I havent sent him that DE yet.lol ;) And no, nobody can know anything. geesh.lol And I am not talking about the bible, where the fudge did all that crap come from? typical empr.

The moment you know everything ceases every reason to stay alive. Thus, nobody knows everything.

Heh, once again, how do you know? That's a very good hypothesis, but you can never prove it.

The human brain is not big enough and capable to store all the information. Vigil before you start saying how do you know: there is enough information on internet, tv,scientific magazines, etc about this matter. Up to you what source of information you want to consult.... :)

well as far as my experience goes. Teachers don't like the internet because everyone can dump their stuff on it. Be it true or false, and there's no site that says. Don't go to dune2k.com cuz everything on that site contains lies. However, there are ofcourse also sites that do have valid information. It's just that you have to seek out the right site. But i think that we are all experienced enough with the inet that we most often see if the information is true or wrong. Ofcourse, everyone can be fooled

Why do you keep calling me that? What association with Star Wars do I have besides discussing the series? If this is about my former screen name that is a misunderstanding on your part it was not ment the way you see it. And I have the DE I would not hold something so small against you.

LOL. Those people can't prove it either. Because to do so, they would require to know... everything ;).

Everything changes in human knowledge, I mean centuries ago people thought the earth was flat, so then how can you prove that someday, somewhere the won't be a person who knows everything?

Human knowledge has no limits.
