I should reinstall Directx 8.1??

What type of problem is this??? Is a problem of the motherboard??

...you have a clue about what could be???

If I change my video/sound card/motherboard would it help?

Posted

I think the guilty is the video card. Maybe is too old.

Here is the new list of the games that lockup:

- Emperor

- Medal of Honor

- Return to Castle Wolfenstein (the original): This only lockup in the menu.

- GTA3: Only sometimes lockups

- Warcraft 3: It lockups almost never.

Always: E:B4d, MoH:AA, and RtCW. GTA3 and WC3 lockup sometimes.

I don`t know why I can`t play Emperor, because I have Empire Earth, Homeworld: Catalysm with full grafics and I don`t have any problem with them.

off topic: I must install a driver for the motherboard, after formattinmg my HD??

drivers are a part of the MS Windows operating system you use, so every time you format the disk that contains the Windows directory you will need to reinstall any extra driver not suplied with Windows.

How can I know if the motherboard driver come with the windows installation? I don`t remember using a cd or floppy disc for the motherboard.

My motherboard is "Giga-Byte Technology CO., LTD i44OBX-8671"

and my processor is "GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 8 667 MHz Stepping 3" = Pentium 3

How can I know which is the model of my Ram stick of 256 mb???

This chipset is quite old. Look on the intel site for updates on the 440BX chipset.

It should be on the module itself. However, looking at your chipset I'd say you have a PC100, or PC133 memory.

That mean if I want to change my motherboard, I can`t use that Ram stick???

I searched for 44OBX, band a lot of different updates appear, but I don`t know which one is the correct.

This is a good place to start.

There is an option for Win 98 SE:

"Replacing Intel driver with Microsoft BM-IDE driver for Windows 98"

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/bm/bus_win.htm

THe 3.02 driver is only for Win 95.

Should I install it??

Off topic: I asked which model of RAM stick I have, I know that I have a PC133 of 256 mb. But I want to know which brand, model, type, etc. Where can I get the info of this??

From your manufacturer.
