Dezertfish
I can't change the backround and right click is disabled. And we cant have personal settings as they are erased. Practically every website is banned even if there is nothing wrong with it. This is the only forum website that actually works - the rest are all banned. >:(I access the internet from my school too.The main page of this website doesn't work, netscape closes all the time without reason, right click is disabled, we can't have personal settings(at least, they think we can't...), and all we have are netscape 4.73 which we aren't supposed to use cause it slows down our T1 connection a tiny bit.(not noticeably)I get yellled at all the time for anything besides using Qbasic, and I am expected to work on my programs even if they are already done.Yeah, school compouters suck, but there are several ways to make it better, such as figuring out the holes in the security. pm me if you are interested in what they are. ;)
Khan
Yeah there's one guy like that in my school he can bypass most of the security but changing things to enable stuff requires this one guys password and there is no way to bypass it. And we can't download anything or install it. There is a way to go on any website but you need to know the I.P address. The internet restrictions are so annoying, porn sites are allowed but hotmail.com is described as a sex site. >:( >:(

Terror
we can do whatever we want except changing background... but we can surf to any site and we can download at 1.3 megabye/sec.
Acriku
My school's computer is worse. We can't even access this website, due to X-STOP, and nothing but open folders, make new documents/edit documents, and open the browser (limited webpages). And we have altivirus or something that allows the server to "look" at what any node is doing on the network. I know the password to get out of it, but geez they are paranoid. nemafakei
What's funny is when an organisation bans its users from accessing its own website due to "Unsuitable material" (and similar messages) there...

Dezertfish
Yeah there's one guy like that in my school he can bypass most of the security but changing things to enable stuff requires this one guys password and there is no way to bypass it.There probably is a way to. Hyperlinks in microsoft word are ever so useful...And we can't download anything or install it. That sucks, At my school we can. If you want to install something, like a cd-rom, try disconnecting the network cable and attempting to log on, at my school it will give you the computer without all the security and without access to the network. There is a way to go on any website but you need to know the I.P address. The internet restrictions are so annoying, porn sites are allowed but hotmail.com is described as a sex site. >:( >:(lol, yeah at my school we can go to sites like www.natall.com (The national alliance is a neonazi white supremist organization), and a host of other websites that they haven't thought to block, but hotmail and yahoo mail are blocked. Some other sites that are blockedwww.somethingawful.comwww.dogpile.com (a search engine)www.coffeebreakarcade.comwww.mycathatesyou.com (used to be, but isn't anymore for some reason)www.hampsterdance.com (no idea why???)Its funny what they think is inappropriate for school. Khan
There probably is a way to. Hyperlinks in microsoft word are ever so useful...The guy did use this to send messages kinda like primitive MSN (also banned) but the next day this option was banned. That sucks, At my school we can. If you want to install something, like a cd-rom, try disconnecting the network cable and attempting to log on, at my school it will give you the computer without all the security and without access to the network.Yeah we tried that but nothing is installed apart from windows so we cant actually do anything

DukeLeto
Our school computers are worse...the start menu is disabled, there is central computer that can be used to monitor/control/shut down/etc. all other computers, and they share a LAN connected to a 56k dial-out. Right click is disaled, you can't save to the hard drive, namely because they have none, and they're loaded with Win95. They have 70 MhZ proscessors, 14 inch monitors, and no sound cards or speakers. They all share one printer, a several-year-old black-and-white impact printer. Internet Explorer (4) doesn't work unless it's first enabled on your computer. Then most websites are banned. Only the Microsoft Word icon on the desktop produces results when clicked.Except the central computer, which has a 21-inch flat panel monitor, 1.1 GhZ P4 proscessor, and amazingly powerful graphics Card. it has it's own 20 GB hard drive, a cable interenet connection, a color laser printer, and four speakers. ::)
Gobalopper
My computer teacher in high school got mad one day at all the sites that were blocked yet shouldn't have been so he told the class to find as many porn sites as we could before class ended. So we just started typing in random names and came up with at least a page of sites that weren't blocked and we actually ended up crashing the school district web blocking software. :)The vice principals password was also his sons first name, I never did anything with that information but considering the access levels he had that was a stupid password to choose. Terror
well in high school it was worse... 4 years ago we still worked on 386 comptuters with a SHARED harddrive :(windows 3.11 almost failed to run there... we needed even a diskette to start up win386.. now that's what i call suckynow in college the comps are not too good. (p3 450 to p3 600) but they can do the things they are supposed to do well enough
gryphon
The vice principals password was also his sons first name, I never did anything with that information but considering the access levels he had that was a stupid password to choose.Same here. One of the admin's paswords is the name of his wife. The other admin was kind enough to log into the computer next to me ones. . not hiding the keys he poushed to login. ::)[ amd although they were more random, 3 letters and 2 cijfers are far from an admin's pasword .. But then a lot of great companies always have a sort of powers user account for all there staff members, that account usually has a simple and guessable password so they can all remember it. ]
Terror
heh the password on the network of my highschool was easy to hack.hah when we had the password we watched DivX movies that were on the admin's harddrive, and after that we changed the password 8)Well one of my friends got caught and was forbidden to use those comps for the next year but is was fun enough :)It was funny when we installed the program sub7 on all the pc's there lol! You suddenly hear a curse of a girl 10 meters away cuz her mouse is "out of control" and suddenly letters appear on her screen...god.. those were the times ^-^
