I think westwood can convince the authors to write a book on house ordos, It would not be too much work. And it make their games make a lot more sense.

Ummm... I suggest you read over what you just said. What does WW really have to do with the books? How and especially why would they convince to write a book? Why would you want a book about Ordos?

It would not make the games make more sense because it will just be a bunch of made up info - you can make it up yourself if you want to and then call it a book.

because game and book is incosistant.

by publishing a book about ordos, the two universe become consistant, which will proabablily boost game sells slightly, which can easily cover cost of the book

Westwood made games based on the Dune movie by David Lynch, not the books. Also House Ordos comes from Willis McNelly's book complilation called the Dune Encyclopedia. Also it would just be kinda silly to write a book based on the Ordos.

I think it would be better if WW had based their games more on the books, so we would have no heavy wepons and only swordsmen, as in the books, and I think it silly that the authors should write a book for the sake of the WW dune games, which have almost nothing in common whit the true duneiverse

Westwood took House Ordos from McNelly's book. They are not mentioned much at all in the Dune Encyclopedia. They just give the house crest and how powerful they are in thfe landsraad councel.

Ordos isn't mentioned anywhere in the books. Making the games consistent with the books is impossible. You'd know that if you read them.

A SF war without heavy weapons could be a lot of things. Original, for example, like Dune was.

Between Djihad and Muad'Dib were 10 millenias. Shield, what is a main part of Dune warfare, must be improving. So maybe in year of 6000 it wasn't so good, and armies were still using tanks and such shit. Games like Emperor or Dune II have time in these times. Also, slow projectiles can penetrate the shield. And now - imagine a 100 kg missile with slowered warhead. After times became shielded tanks obsolete and fully replaced by infantry. But after times.

Also, shields aren't always used. If are, why they product laserguns? Also, in Dune are mentioned heavy vehicles too. Sardaukars flied in an jet APC, which used engines against Fremen. Or various battleships, monitors etc. Strategy of Emperor game is based on infantry. On Arrakis, using of shields is dangerous (they lure worms), and only fast vehicles (such as Ordos hovertanks) can use it. Herbert showed only time from 10191 to future. Westwood worked on times before 10191.

The Dune games mention duke Leto, baron Vladimir and Shadam IV. So it is during the book time. Emperor can't be much time after Dune2k because house Ordos attempts to make everyone believe Shadam IV survived the previous war, wich wouldn't be very credible if the time was 300 years later ;D

Yes. In fact it is SO high-tech, that all weapons other than hand-to-hand are rendered completely useless by energy shields.

well, the energy shield would render many things useless. but look:

Energy shield will require energy input, If you shoot enough stuff at it, it overloads. boom

EMP, emp== no more shields

concusion weapons, make mashmellow out of shielded target

tank tracks, sqash

fancy scifi quatum weapons, tunnel though space into the shield, and spash !

there are a billion way to defeat the shiled without knife.
