Nothing we'll be able to do? Don't you think that techonology will have advanced by then? Already we're building an international space station in orbit. Perhaps by 2030 we'll have some sort of anti-space junk defence system functional. But that's for other matters of discussion. I just wanted to know whether or not the asteroid that was supposedly going to hit Earth in 2017 was going to hit or not, since I hadn't really heard much about it for some time.

No ateroid is going to hit Earth. Unlike some of your little third-world countries, the US has a plan! We'll fire nukes at it! So then, instead of one large asteroid, hundreds of highly radioactive fragments will smash into the Earth. Much better. ::)

If the US really destroyed an incoming asteroid, I bet US government will ask other countries to pay some fee, if its not paid, war would probably be on the way to those countries.

Yeah sure, mock it. A nuke fired at the side of a comet/meteor won't shatter the object, but alter its trajectory. Besides that, there isn't much you can do about it.

oh, i was more thinking of saddam hussein, he always wanted to detonate a nuke. But ofcourse the chance that a texas size asteroid hits the earth is incredibly small.
