135 years seems old to a young pup like me, nearing the ripe young age of 25 ;D.

So what is the oldest country that ppl who posty here are from? Whos country is the oldest? (not to start a poll or anything, was just wondering) ;D

The oldest country to be recognized as a country? Eh, who knows, it really depends on who you talk to. Italy is the "oldest country in the world" because it has the most old people in it. China is also said to be the oldest. The oldest independent country is said to be Ethiopia.

Depends... You could consider pretty much any country to be old, depending on the definition. What about the country that has the same sort of constitution-thing for the longest? That is, not china, because it is communist since only 1949.

i know the neatherlands were around from 1500 atleast.......but england isnt england its the U.K ;) but if you want to go record wise...turkey is old...isreal is quite old

China, Egypt and Greece are very old countries. The youngests seems to be african countries after colonisation like Burkina Faso, thought Africa has one of the oldest culture.

Greece wasn't unite state in ancient times. There were only town-states like Athens or Sparta. If you mean Macedonia, it's something else. Oldest is China, if we think about ancient empire as predicessor of today's people's republic (Shang dynasty ruled from 1480 b.C.).But also Slovakia is old state. If we count from 622, when some frank merchant Samo united here Slavoinc tribes and defeated Avars. Yet after his death his empire fell into chaos, as usual.Anyway, happy Canada day, we stand on guard for thee!

actully greece became a nation in 1830 when they decalred independence from the ottomans

I don't know about the oldest country, but the oldest surviving NATION is China.

Romania has been around as a nation since the 7th century AD, but as a country we're only 105 years old. We had our Independence War (well, actually it was just our part of a larger, Russo-Turkish war) in 1877, against the Ottomans.
