Blighter
No actually, but I just checked in, and a lot of them had the same ideas I did. Kind of a surprise, that someone else thought of Hoffman as the Baron. The problem with casting Dune is you need actors with proven depth. I mean, a lot of the character development in the book is internal, so you need an actor who can show their inner turmoil or inner thoughts through expression. Plus, a lot of them need to have a presence. I mean the Duke has to be able to command a scene, same with Jessica, the Baron, or the Emperor.I don't envy their casting department. But I'll start getting really excited when we start seeing production sketches and a look at the art design.
Anathema
Duke Leto - Russell CroweSorry, I don't think that I could look at Crowe and imagine him as Duke Leto.Piter De Vries - Brad Dourif (honestly, who else)Brad Dourif would be good, but I think that Johny Depp would do well too. I don't think that he would be thrilled at the opportunity of having less than 10 minutes of screen time, though.Thufir Hawat - Anthony HopkinsGood, but I fear that he's getting to old even for playing Hawat :-I should say that, allthough I liked Lynch' movie, I thought that it had to many white people in it. I can't cite any specific parts from the novels, but I always imagined the Duniverse to be more diverse than that.
Wolf
Because I'm weird, I decided that I'd post the ultimate Dune-movie cast. This will include actors who have died, no longer work, or aren't up to the role in any case. Enjoy.Duke Leto I - J
Edric O
You know, just four of those actors would be enough to make the movie a massive hit with both the male and female under 30 population:Paul Atreides - Christian BaleFeyd-Rautha Harkonnen - Brad PittIrulan - Natalie PortmanChani - Jessica Alba
Wolf
Google-image "Megan Fox" and you'll add to that list.

Andrew
She doesn't look attractive IMHO :PIn the tranformers image she does. But she has tramp stamps which is bad.
Wolf
Well, in any case, I was really proud of the John Malkovich and Willem Defoe choices. I mean, what two actors, given the context of Dune, could be creepier? And Dunenewt's choice of John Goodman was genius. I mean, look at Walter from The Big Lebowski. Acriku
Is it too much to say that the actors/actresses should consider this new film (whoever may be cast) the pinnacle of their acting career, and deliver as if it was their last film? I hope they think it's a big deal, anyway. It's also my slight opinion that most of the cast be unknowns (who would probably put more heart into it than, say, Brad Pitt).Anybody consider Daniel Craig (new Bond dude) to be a potential sietch leader/Harkonnen leader [simplistically Stilgar, alternatively Feyd Harkonnen]? He has that look, to me.http://bestof.provocateuse.com/images/photos/daniel_craig_97.jpg
Dunenewt
I had Daniel Craig as Liet Kynes.Willem Defoe would make a good Hasmir Fenring in my opinion.
Dunenewt
After reading a few suggestions on the official boards, I think Kevin Spacey would be great as Fenring. Daniel Radcliffe for Paul...yes I know he is Harry Potter, but I don't think its a bad shout. He is still quite young as well. If they make a spoof film of Dune, Seth Green could play Feyd...Thinking about this, if Harry Potter was to play Paul, then there would only be one choice for Feyd...Don't take this too seriously :P
AeonGrey
Duke Leto I - Stephen Frywhahhh??? What is this the Cockney circus version of Dune? I like Stephen Fry but...I don't think he's right for Leto. You could never convince me, for example that he was descended from a Greek family or that he knows how to fight.... Dante
God no. And no Radcliffe either, he has zero talent.I could see Seth Green taking a serious, if minor role. Piter perhaps. :P
SandChigger
Rad-cliffe ... he's now following the Ewan McGregor school of acting, right? Nekkid at the drop of ... his drawers? (Some Hairy Putter, I guess? :O )Seriously, what is the fascination with lists of this sort? I never have really understood it....
MrFlibble
I could see Seth Green taking a serious, if minor role. Piter perhaps. :P I didn't know he was a movie actor (besides voice-acting and producing Robot Chicken) :)
SandChigger
Wasn't he a spoiled brat or something in one of the Austin Powers movies?(And long, long ago ... Willow the Witch's werewoof love-interest on Buffy? ;) )
Dunenewt
Yeah that's the one. A few years ago, he could even be a Feyd, but he'd probably look too old now.
