Anyone else read this guy?  Obviously he's one of scifi's greatest, but I'm reading "A Scanner Darkly" right now and it's....kind of difficult somehow.  Hard to explain.  Something about the way people talk to eachother.

Not at all Gunwounds, his "Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" was adapted to film and renamed "Blade Runner".  A few other novels and short stories of his were made into films also, like Total Recall and Minority Report. (Yeah my Philosophy teacher two semesters ago was obsessed with him...)

I've always meant to read his series dealing with God becoming bored with the universe, but have never gotten around to it.  Valis I think it is?

wait a second, is this the same guy who wrote the short story "we can sell it to you wholesale" or something like that, which was a basis for Total Recall? Am I thinking of the same guy?

Yes, he also inspired "Impostor", "Paycheque", "Minority Report", "Screamers", and of course, "Blade Runner".
