Hi All,

I would like to buy a new game, but looking through all the games i see in the shop/internet i have no clue of what to take. And i really don't have to time (and skills) to check them all out.

I was thinking of Rome TW, but i am not sure yet as it seems not that active like emperor

The gameplay i like, is the gameplay of Emperor. So i would like to have something simular.

As you here are (almost) all fans from Emperor i would like if you can give me some tips of which game i should take.

Requirements:

- Simular gameplay as Emperor

- Not to old game

- Big online community so i can play online

Big dislike: Games played through view of person, like doom etc... I get dizzy from those games...

Any tips?

You should try C&C: Generals, it's really a great game, and I think it's using the Emperor engine. I'm not 100% sure about this, but the game is cool. You can play with America, China and some terrorist organization. Here is the official site of the game. Look at the screenshots, I hope you like it.

Nahh. I think it's pretty good. The singleplayer isn't that good because there's no storyline. But the battles are nice. And i guess online is pretty good too (never played online though)

Thanks for your opinion, what is not a load of shit according to you then?

Emperor.

The Multiplayer has no strategy at all. It is a case of sitting nice and cushy in your base and building 50 million superweapons, or using pathetic little 'generals weapons'. It's just irritating, buggy, shallow and poorly thought-out.

plus the fact the general ( I say general stupids ) destroyed the reputation of other C&C games, just look at the movies and cut scenes!

Plus it has the worst thing of any game for me. The Build Unit. In C&C you could be attacking the enemy whilst building up your base defenses and training reinforcements. But not generals, you have to find some bulldozer, click build, click the building, and find space, in that time your army could get destroyed. All westwood were just two clicks away from building and placing a building.

Just because a game is not very similar to your favourite game, it doesn't need to be crappy.

Generals has just the amount of tactics in it that Emperor has.

It's not just Superweapons.

Actually, I usually finish the game before getting to the superweapons ( quickly ), or prevent my enemy from getting any.

You have many different units at your disposal too, with a variety of abilities.

I like Generals, and I like Emperor.

Ok, so most of you think Generals is not that good for playing online.

But which online game (except Emperor) is good for playing online with a good amount of players?

click! click! clickety click real fast or lose!

That is why turn based games deal with a different type of strategy. Also why I think I tend to enjoy them now more than RTS games.

(Colonization, civ2, Alpha Centauri, lords of the realm2, lords of magic...classics)

Bah, this thread will get a lot longer before you find a game that will be better then Emp for gameplay. Maybe though...maybe that new Settlers game will be good...

WarIII ain't too bad, but can get boring fast, especially as most of the 'tactics' are a matter of frantically clicking and learning hot-keys.

The true entertainment of Warcraft III lies in Tower Defence maps.

They can keep you going for weeks. And years too.

Where did you get the idea warcraft is about the one who clicks most?

Clicking alot will only get your apm higher, it won't help you in any way.

I guess CADX2-craft proved that, he owned the USeast ladder with an average apm of 30, while the rest has like 200/300.
