Acclaim gone/going

Its true, and Acclaim seemed like one of the big guys, and they are not meant to go bankrupt !

It is obviously a tough market out there, dominated by EA.

...soon, there will be order again. A new age! Aquinas spoke about the mythical city on the hill, and soon, that city will be a reality...

Maybe Mr. Page from Deus Ex foretold the future? Either they have to join game giants like EA and Eidos, to ruin all games, or they have to shut down. Strange that they have to, since most of them really made good games (Westwood, Looking Glass, etc).

I expect as computers begin to filter through to more and more homes, more people will be interested in making their own games, and so the internet will become a much larger database of public projects, which is far more likely to spawn original games than the huge corporations like EA, who suck.

World will end up with EA, Micro$oft, Blizzard and Activision leading djihad against pirates and downloaders, while we all will be playing freeware games with ancient open engines and graphics made by people trying to get into ad business...

I guess Blizzard will go bankrupt after a little while.

And none of the big firms will lead and djihad against downloaders, I reckon.

They sell so much they can afford the loss.

Well, as the internet develops, bigger files like movies and games will be more easily downloaded - 1mb/s will become the standard, and then, even faster rates. It is this that worries the mighty corporations.

Though, I'm skeptical if Blizzard will go bankrupt. They have their World of Warcraft (and probably World of Diablo and World of Starcraft after that), and both fans and strategy-lovers are expecting Starcraft 2 and 3 (I think it will follow the Warcraft thing), and Diablo 3 is also expected I think. Then, we have Valve left too, for us/you action fans.

I doubt that, Blizzard dominates RTS.

But isnt that bad ? Too few producers of games ? Even if some of them are good. Headlines will read: "Microst and EA corner the market"  ???

Nope, EA does.

lol... right,

blizzard sold over ten million copies of Warcraft III RoC, not to mention The frozen throne. And this is one of the smaller games, the big one is Starcraft, which still has more than 300,000 active ladder players. and that's alot considering the game is like 6 years old.

and this is just their rts division, They also have D2 and upcoming WoW.

There is no EA game thats sponsored by any big company (at least not to my knowledge)

Warcraft is sponsored by just about everything 'Intel' '64AMD' 'Creative' and many more.

Blizzard isn't going bankrupt, not in 10 years.

Umm...EA is a big company...and they took over Westwood and raped it by making Generals which sold a lot of copies as well.

EA is small in comparison to INTEL, the fact that these huge companies sponsor blizzard, makes blizzard bigger than Entertainment Antichrist.

But anyway, it's sad acclaim is going..I loved turok :-
