Well my days of riding out most storms and passing hurricanes are over.

I got my first hand experience of what a category 4 is capable of, and it

is some scary shit.  now the wife and kids went to a shelter and I stayed to board up some windows, around 8pm I was just tired and thought ah hell ill just stay here and deal with it will probably just miss us anyway.  I also live in a mobile home too, which is mistake #1  around 9:45pm i got the last report that said it would likely pass north of us, well around 10;45 it went from calm n cloudy to just sudden massive strong winds.

Now the power was out, so i stopped getting any reports and assumed it was just near but not directly coming, now after 11pm or so i think i honestly can't remember now, i took the large cushions off the sofa went to our back b-room got in the bath tub, however now that i think about it

really, what is a tub in a mobile home gonna do now. After that for about 2hrs straight all I think I did was just wait for this place to suddenly explode or something.  The sound was so loud and constant i actually put tissue in each ear to try to stop the noise. i heard metal buckling sounds from the roof, a few people scream from time to time and finally 2 windows blow out but i was not leaving my tub to go see. I think it was around 3 or 4 am it finally calmed down.  When i finally found my radio I found out it came directly in my direction, and the winds were like 80 to 100 mph, sustained winds. Whew,I've never been that scared in my life. Next time I will leave the damn state of Florida.

aww........dont worry about it, 80 to 100 mph is not a lot, thats VERY low wind speed. i could go outside and stand in 80 to 100 mph winds, thats easy.

Well I can assure you with 100% accuracy you would worry, and then some.

Actually Rookie, tornadoes can occur within hurricane systems as they hit.  *smacks self* Too much CNN and Discovery Channel...

Anyhow, glad you made it through alright.  :)

200-300? That's nothing!

You should try living in the 9th layer of hell where it's frigging cold and the icy blizzard is oftimes at 1000000000mph.

You mean Canada?

Yeah I live in Orlando, but the worst that I received was power outage for ~12 hours. The real trouble was working at the only grocery open before and after the hurricane. I work at Publix over in the Metro West area, and we had full power and the ATM machines were up and running. So basically, every person who could drive there went there for ice, water, and other essentials. On Friday I cashiered like there was no tomorrow for 6 hours straight without having a break in customers. They just kept on coming.. And then Saturday and Sunday were no better, although a tad bit slower. The second ice was put back on the shelf, customers grabbed it. There were customers fighting for carts (buggies for some people) and most of them were pissed as hell when they came through my line. That's what sucked the most about this damned hurricane.
