I like Fed2k because not only is it founded on this extremely rich, dynamic, and powerfully enthralling universe, but that it transcends nation, race, gender, and everything else to truly create a dedicated community.

I don't pay for it anyway. lol.  I use it mainly to host things, and when my Emperor mod is finished it will probably be over 10mb so I can't upload it straight on to the Dune Editing Site.

OK so seems like we all went off topic lol.

I actually do not know how long Dune's popularity will last...it would be a better question if I live in Europe...when I ask fellow Singaporeans if they know what Dune is, they say "What's that?" :- But famous novels novels never die, just like Around the World in 80 Days, and it is even getting a movie version soon.

What you need to realize is that the Dune community is strong. Sure people will come and go, but the majority will stay. If Gob ever would decide not to go through with this site, there'll be a solution :)

I think Fed2k will stay around until the government's secret project (the thinking machine) realizes how much a threat we are and destroys it.
