Nyar, i've kept almost all of my posts in this thread at least somewhat related to the questions and issues that the original poster has raised. I am not spamming. I am not smashing Atomic's ideas. I am merely giving him a realistic analysis of what will happen. He is obviously not familiar with EA and how they abandoned Emperor even with it's hundreds (literally!) of gameplay-bugs intact, and how they abandon everything they ever release. I am not trying to put him down. Rather, I am educating him about these matters as a service to him so he stops harboring false hopes.

Unless you've tried contacting EA for the same purpose, I'd suggest you stop bashing him. I HAVE contacted EA (with some trouble) and they DO reply on EBFD issues. Now again, stop bashing the ideas someone has.

And you DO spam in this thread, so nock it off or stop complaining about others.

What happened when everyone complained to EA that the Emp Clan Manager kept going down every few weeks?

EA took it away! No more Clan Manager = EA gets no more Complaints about the Clan Manager.

Same thing is going to happen to WOL. EA takes away WOL = EA gets no more Complaints about WOL not working.

*I* like playing on WOL, unlike you Nyar, so I have a vested interest in not encouraging people to get it shutdown even faster.

I would ask anyone having problems on the WOL servers to try Olaf's server instead. If these errors don't happen there then we know its something with EA's server and not something on our ends. We need to try to narrow down the possible causes.

Aromic and I tried to play a game on Olaf's server and he froze just like on WOL and I expect had he not froze I would have as well.

Is it possible that most ppl downloaded the program to kill the mblast virus a few weeks ago and that program in some way is making it tough to connect to emp servers.

The same thing is happining on Olafs server we cant connect to his server as well so it might b on our ends.

Olaf is your server in any way linked to the wol servers?

i wish you guys would be WAY more specific when you say "the problem happens on Olaf's server too". i've seen that a lot, but no details of what that means.

Emp crashing at the Connecting screen is *NOT* a new occurence. During usual WOL play, that would normally happen about 15% of the time simply due to buggy WOL coding.

The only new part about this problem is that it has changed from 15% to just-under 100%.

So when you guys say "the game crashed on Olaf's server too" - which is it? It crashes about 15% of the time, or almost 100% of the time?!

Nav IT MEANS OLAFS SERVER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS EMP DOES, IT LOADS GAMES JUST 15% OF THE TIME I HOPE IM CLEAR ENOUGH FOR YOU. :O

Olaf if your server is not linked in anyway to emp then i think we r having the connection problems with our computers.

In fact I have spent two days reading every article about Emperor that I could find about the game.

I have read interviews with Lou Castle, formerly founder of Westwood Studios.

In one Interview he stated that Emperor was a test game of RTS.

SO if this is true, it's not surprising that they didn't de-bug it properly.

By the way, I got an e_mail last night from EA Uber Studios's Game Server Department's Rep, Daniel B.

They said the problems are being caused by the Bandwidth issues on the Internet caused by the Blaster virus.

Whether or not this is true or EA are just using the virus as a scapegoat, we'll never no.

We'll just have to wait and see if the virus companies and Internet Techies can anihilate the virus completely.

Having read an article though of a college in Virginia that had 8000 computers infected, it will probably take some time to cure this disease.

But please try to be positive Nav, I accept your point about letting sleeping dogs lie, but do you really think that a Company like EA doesn't know what It's servers are doing ? after all they are paying for it.

So I really doubt that reminding them of any problems will make any difference at all.

lol NAV ur arguement is self redundant if we dont complain problem will never get solved, so emperor dies! if we do complain and they close WOL emperor dies.

Personally I say complain and to hell with it, at least we can try. you can contact support via e-mail and get a reply just log it as an unlisted pc game and then state in e-mail that it's emperor and state the problem clearly. My responce basicly said that they are now aware of the problem and hope to cure it by next week. apparently other servers are being affected hence the long wait. newer games have priority.

also i thought EA had already reduced the no of WOL servers due to lack of traffic?

I have heard talk of Nav's idead of some evil conspiracy to shut down Emp without anyone knowing.

This seems a bit far fetched to me. What evidence do u have to back up these ideas? WOL is still in operation as a part of EA and still supports the game.

It seems as if Nav just invented this idea in his own mind and now he believes it. Maybe WOL got wind of Nav's tourney and decided to make Emp crash as payback for Nav talking trash about them lol.

All of the WOL staff seems very intent on getting this game fixed for us, lets give them a chance. If WOL decided to get rid of the game they would just tell us to pound sand and take it off the server.

anyhow sendakon, even if i did consider cheaters who are half-decent as "competition", and you were to add every single half-decent player on WOL to your list there - Emp would *STILL* be a dead game. from what i've seen over the past few months (these are estimates off the top of my head so not entirely scientific, but reasonable at least), 95% of everyone on WOL is not even half-decent at Emp. 5% is half-decent. of that 5%, about 2% are elite players.

those numbers might be a little off, but they're not off by *much*. any way you slice it, Emp is dead dead dead.

Nav according to this lets say 100 players are still on emperor which is according recent statements an over estimate. Then who are the 2 elite player YOU &?.

and who are 3 decent players.

If we all go around dishing dirt and calling new players gay then no wonder no one stays playing.

Nah.Empy has already become their "dirty little secret" as nav has said.

Something just hit me. Every game that EA/Westwood has made that is either more than a few years old or wasn't that sucsesful have just been "erased" form time, it seems. If you check out the website now, most of the games they ever did are gone. Like, all of theyr'e Dune games, NOX, E&B, and Sole Survivor. Kinda makes me mad >:(
