Just recently, New York has opened a strictly gay public school. This, of course, made an uproar in the community. Think about it, a public school, paid by the taxpayers, with teachers paid by the taxpayers. For homosexuals only. Their reasons for this is because they are victimized too often, and this school will provide a better way to get their education.

I am against this for one reason: it's public. They should not make us pay for it so homosexuals could get away from the bullies. What about fat people? They are bullied more than homosexuals, because it's apparent from one look. Should they have a public school on their own? What about nerds? Ugly people? People with bad acne? I think you see my point. They should have made this a private school, where it can be privately funded.

Well I somewhat agree with the concept, and somewhat don't. There are schools for certain religions, schools for children with disabilities, schools for extremely intelligent kids, etc. So I can see where they justify it that way on the media.

However, the word public implies it is open to everyone. However, by placing the label "gay school" after it, it no longer makes it public to everyone. Thus in a way its basically a government supported private school for a certain group of individuals.

So yes, quite an interesting topic. I will be watching the news to see how this progresses. Maybe you all can give better arguements than CNN, MSNBC, and Fox news's "experts".

reminds me of a high school around my area that opened not long ago for freshmen only, then they can go on to regular high school, they didnt open the new school because of rise in student population or anything like that, just to prevent the freshmen from getting picked on, whats the point once they become sophmores they're guna get picked on like freshmen, similar in a way to this gay school, theres no point to it, its not like they're guna stay in school all day theyre eventualy going to run into some guy on the street who hates gays and get beat up or ridiculed, might as well make a city just for gays funded by gay people somewhere far from cilvilization

the good part about this is that when God decides to rain down Fire & Brimstone upon these evil-doers [or whatever sort of other punishment He sees fit], He only has to target one very-specific building in order to nuke a whole whackload of them at once. this is essentially making God's job a lot easier. for that reason, i'm all for it.

and, it takes a lot of diseases like A.I.D.S. out of the public system so normal kids don't get it by accident, like the guys who would normally be beating up these "gay" kids and making them bleed. the amount of pestilence-carrying students will be dramatically decreased in schools which have these these "gay kids" removed to go to their own "gay school". for that reason, i'm all for it yet again

I dont mind getting the gay kids out of public schools, but paying for their own school and giving them the privledge of having their own school? id rather just they all take home school.

I think the homophobes in here are scared of homosexuels, they don't know they own sexuality and therefore fear gay people. Maybe they are themself gays and just want to sound like bad mofos so other would respect them, when infact it make them look like idiots.

I'm perfectly clear with my sexuality, so I don't feel threatened by homosexuals, infact I think it's great. That way there will be more girls for the rest of us.

Hmmm... On the surface it's a nice idea but I don't really approve. It seperates a small community from the rest of society, which is really exactly what we want to avoid. I'm more for acceptance than segregation.

Ridiculous! Imagine what would happen if a hetero-sexual only school was created with public money? Or one discriminating by race?

Disabilities organisations are fair enough - some people have rather different requirements, but a school should teach co-operation between different parts of society, rather than alienation.

"and, it takes a lot of diseases like A.I.D.S. out of the public system so normal kids "

Nav, we're talking about children, not adults. Being homosexual does not automatically make you HIV-positive.

"I think the homophobes in here are scared of homosexuels"

Hehe. Sorry. But that's what it means, almost literally...

This is ridiculous. Utterly absurd. Imagine the uproar if they made a public school "for whites only". This is the same thing. Segregation is just another form of discrimination, and discrimination has no place in society.

Thats a good way to think about it. Now to make polygamy legal!

Only joking of course

I can't approve of this. The creation of public schools for homosexual students only further divides society. Integration of homosexual people should be gradual, and it will be, but this kind of thing puts it back a whole lot.

I think that making a separate school for homosexuals is going in the wrong direction--we are going from integration to segregation. This may help a bit with bullying in the short term, but in the long run it will only create a greater gap in society rather than bridging the gab.

Well, you could have expressed the same opinion by saying "I agree with Inoc" :P bit shorter... but... I do think homosexuals will eventually be accepted and integrated into "normal" society, or hetrosexuals will be accepted and integrated into "normal" society :D whichever, it will happen eventually (emphasis on eventually).

no, but if you look at any credible statistics, you'll see that those are by far the ones who have some of the highest infection rates and hence my statement holds true. by taking out a large chunk of "gay kids" from a school, you are removing one of the main demographics that carries those STDs. far more so than normal people.

"gays" will never be accepted by society any more than they are now. there are billions of truly religious Christians, Jews, and Muslims and their Holy Books all condemn "gays" straight to Hell. their books are not going to change, and neither will their attitudes.

only the non-religious and immoral will ever accept "gays" [note: this includes hypocrites who label themselves as "Christian" etc. yet do not obey God's Word]

Nav you can just stuff that "true christian" crap, atleast until you show me your direct line to the lord, hell is in my opinion something the church invented to scare small kids like you Nav. The catholics see noting wrong with sex between priest and small boys, now do they? but I guess that's ok huh? After all they can just say no.

I'm not in for a gay school wich I said in my first post here. The last post was ment for the gay marriage thread but ended up in here. Still I stand by it, and think that would some of you have said makes me laugh of pity.

I don't like seing homosexuals standing and making out in public, but I think they should be allowed if heteros should. But obviously some people are afraid of the homosexuals since they want them to pe killed, but then again they are prolly still afraid of the dark too.
