  1. Just to add that the Sanctuary Special Edition already "appeared" on this forum, in the Duniverse section, in which I think this thread should also belong. Here is the link to that "old" thread (August 06, 2003). Also, I never asked Orlok about that, as Mahdi suggested, so it might be a good idea to do that...
  2. My first intoduction to Dune was the David Lynch Movie, that I saw with 8/9 years, back in the 80's, and the film marked me, specially the giant worms. Then came the game Dune II, one of my favourite games of all time, that I really loved. I played it for hours and hours. After that I was always interested in Dune games, and played Cryo's Dune I (IMHO, a very nice adventure/strategy game), Dune 2000 (lots of entertainment with a friend in the mini-LAN I had here in my house) and then Emperor: Battle for Dune, of course, which I followed with the greatest interest possible. Watched every new screenshot posted, every new video, being amazed byt the graphics. I must also admit that I even downloaded the game the first day it was on some warez sites, and spent a whole day playing it, almost not sleeping, when I had some university exams to study, eheh. Of course I bought the game when it appeared in Portugal, and played it lots of time on WOL. When the first mini-series aired, I decided to read the first Dune book, and I was completely hooked. Readed almost from the beggining to the ending without stopping, and I can only say... WOW! After that I read the other book, including the 3 first prequels from BH/KJA (I have not bought the pre-prequels), but I must say that the Dune book is really the one I like most. Completely absorbing. Since than I am completely a Dune fan. Saw the Dune and COD min-series, the normal and extended TV versions of Lynch's Dune, bought two copies of the first Dune book, and been borrowing to friend, to hook them do Dune... :-) Hell, I even bought the Marvel Comic's about Dune and the Parker Bros table game. Last, but not the least, I must say that I am an huge fan of Dune Music. From Spice Opera, based on Dune I (fantastic!), passing to Dune II e Dune 2000, to E:BFD and Dune Mini-series, and ending on the TOTO's soundtrack and the marvellous, completely amazing and beautiful Brian Tyler's COD soundtrack... And that is my story on Dune :-)
  3. [yet another off topic] Just to say that is nice to see another portuguese posting on this forum ;D [back on topic] A sci-fi RTS, so good to be considered a substitute for Emperor? Hum... When you find it, tell me about it ;)
  4. Hi everyone! A friend of mine has pointed me to a new Dune DVD being released in October 2003. It is a special edition of 1984 David Lynch movie, of 177 minutes, also including interviews with the cast, crew and production team members. Here is the link to that DVD: http://www.blackstar.co.uk/video/item/7000000082006 Does anyone of you guys know of this edition? Do you think it is just a "remake" of the TV edition (180m)? Is it a version that I only saw previously on eBay, with 3 VCD's, only available on Japan, if I'm not wrong? Can anyone help me out there? Is it something really new? If it is, I would love to have it! ;D Thanks !

    Countries

Cyborg, I really enjoyed Norway, specially the really beautiful landscapes (and the boat trip in the fjords). The city I most liked was your home town, Bergen ;D (altough Oslo is also beatiful). I went by funicular to Mount Floyen, which has a fantastic view over the entire area of Bergen. Overall, I really liked the country, and would recomend it to everyone :)
  6. Well, here is my first proposal... If I have time, I will try to do something better. Feel free to comment the image :) [attachment archived by Gobalopper]

    Countries

Some countries I would like to visit (and I've not been to): - Australia - Brasil - Mexico - Russia - India - Japan - Egypt I have been to (I guess I'm lucky): Portugal (I live there :P - also been to Madeira and Azores islands), Spain (also Canarias and Baleares islands and Andorra), France, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, South Africa, Macau (now part of China), USA (Florida, New York and Washington) and Canada. PS - I would also love to have enough money to be a space tourist ::) ;D
  8. Yup, I also play Emperor on WinXP without doing anything besides the normal instalation. ;D
  9. Well, without no speculation, read the following passage from "Heretics of Dune": [hide] Conversation beetween Taraza, a Bene Gesserit, and Tylwyth Waff, a Tleilaxu (page 194 of my New English Library papercover book. "God preserve us all! Is Waff a secret Zensunni? No Matter the dangers, this had to be explored. Odrade must be armed with every possible advantage on Rakis. 'Perhaps we have done all we can for now', Taraza said. 'There is time to complere our bargain. God alone in His inifinite mercy has given us infinite universes where anything may happen'. Waff clapped his hands once without thinking. 'The gift of suprprises is the greatest gift of them all!' he said. Not just Zensunni, Taraza thought. Sufi alfo. Sufi! She began to readjust her perspective on the Tleilaxu. How long have they been holding this close to their breasts? [/hide] Perhaps this can help your conversation ;D
  10. On the present moment, COD in os 10th place, and the Director's Cut Special Edition of the first mini-series is on the 12th place !! I hope this will convince them to continue making more Dune mini-series (altough I know that GEOD will be really hard to transform to a film...) Give us more Dune 8) 8) 8)
  11. Hi All ! I hate to say this, but I already posted a "battle report" on HTML, during the Fed2k Landsraad Tournament, which can be seen on http://www.dcc.fc.up.pt/~pribeiro/ebfd/. This was on January 26th, and I posted it here on the forum. And I'm pretty sure that lots of other people had already done things like that before me (I remember seeing some "illustrated stories" about battles on some clan sites). Bottom line, no this is not the FIRST battle report made about E:BFD (ok, maybe the first one on battlereports.com). Anyway, it's nice to see this kind of story, so, thanks, DukeLeto! :-)
  12. Me too !! It's really sad to see so many people leaving for generals... :'( But I hope that many will return once they confirm again that Emperor, IMHO, is one of the best RTS's in history. :P Emperor is probably the biggest and most fascinating underdog of computer gaming. If we could just show Emperor to all the people who don't know it and that would surely like it... ::) (Stop dreaming, WhiteShadow)
  13. lololol :D Maybe you're right... But all I have to do to take a ss is to press F12 (I use Howie's screen capture) And number6, I will be happy to play with you. I will page you if I see you online. Do you play with the nick 'number6'? I'm usually w22shadow, but this month I'm playing a little on qm with the nick spicegame.
  14. --------------------------------- Match 9: w22shadow vs ace1gold --------------------------------- Yes, that's true, ace1gold won the game! Well done ace, you're a better player than me! :) I wish you good luck for the rest of the tournament... And for all you guys, I built a small page with screenshots from the game, so that you can see how it was. I hope you enjoy it. Check http://www.dcc.fc.up.pt/~pribeiro/ebfd/. I would really like to see others game described like this one. It would be more fun to everyone. Hope you liked the idea. And long live Emperor: Battle for Dune ! ;D
  15. Well, I'm not a really good player, but I'm in ;D Nick: w22shadow Location: Portugal (exactly GMT Time)
