  1. That would be the Heaven Makers. I wasn't really crazy about it, but parts of it were interesting.
  2. I'm over it.
  3. I've read a ton of Herbert's other works. Dragon in the Sea (A.K.A. Under Pressure) was really good; but I wasn't as crazy about the Santaroga Barrier. Two of my favourites were the White Plague, and his only non-sci-fi novel, Soul Catcher. The ConSentiency novels were pretty good, too.
  4. Of course we listen to you, Dante. That's an important part of making fun of you behind your back.
  5. That's rough, Mike. It'll be a while before I bother with Vista myself. Definitely stop by the Tech Help board and ask around. Someone's got to have the skills to get them running. And, of course, drop by the Duniverse board as well with any questions you have about the series.
  6. Also, maps based on popular locations from the film/books would be interesting as well (we can help you with this if you haven't seen/read them). I for one would love to see a level around the breached area of the Shield Wall (with Leto's tomb nearby?), the Attendant/Mount Idaho, or even a level taking place in the streets of Carthag, or near an ecological testing station.
  7. When I try any sort of Safe Mode, I get a stream of multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWSsystem32drivers*.* (*.* = different filenames) Followed eventually by "press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys". There's a bit of dust hanging around, but not enough to overheat the computer, i think. And if that were the problem, I would be able to let it cool off, and have it work again (at least until it overheated again). I'll get some canned air next chane I get, though. Andrew, where can I get a Linux CD? I've never used that OS, but if it'll help me disgnose/fix the problem, then I'm in.
  8. Rock outcroppings... think of those rocky bits in Emperor where vehicles can't go, and infantry gets armour advantages. Cover is key. Your maps should have tons of it. It will add visual detail to your maps as well, making the landscape look much more volatile and wastelandey.
  9. So I have no idea what happened, but my computer doesn't work in a way I can't even accurately diagnose. Windows XP Essential 2 Dual-Core Athlon Awesome I left the computer on while I went to a friend's place (it was working perfectly when I left). When I got back, I shook the mouse to get out of sleep mode, and accidentally hit the right mouse button. When the screen came on, the computer had crashed, to the point that I couldn't even ctrl+alt+del to the task menu. Resetting the computer, I got to the windows loading screen, where it sat there, apparently loading, for about five minutes, then restarted again. I can't get any further than this loading screen. My BIOS setup seems fine still, and I'm not getting any hardware errors or anything. So, now I'm stuck on my old PC with a barely-working version of Windows XP, and a monitor that tives me a headache after ten minutes. And I have a real hankering to play Devil May Cry 3, which is on my new PC. Please help. Etc. Etc.
  10. You can get an emulated version for PC at Home of the Underdogs.
  11. Dysons are awesome, even if they are bright purple. But I think mine are better. They are, after all, the Ultimate G.
  12. Newt's just jealous 'cause no one has thrown underwear at him yet.
  13. It was just a watered-down version of the "Terminology of the Imperium" from the book, printed on a brochure with a grey picture of dunes in the background. They pop up on Ebay every now and then, along with Dune Tequila labels (which were also from the box office releases, I think). I didn't find I needed any clarification of terms when watching the film. They seemed to describe everything that needed description.
  14. While I am a fan of well-drawn circles, I can't picture how, in any universe or time frame, that picture could be considered funny. In fact, you might say the joke "sucks" almost as much as this: homina homina homina *slide whistle*
  15. I don't follow. But Batman sounds awesome!
  16. He doesn't like you. I don't like you...
  17. I bet you promised everlasting fame to the last logo designer, too. Or was that logo just for the sex? You disgust me, and I'll see if I can come up with something.
  18. It looks pretty good, but... why is it now our duty as forum members to watch Will Smith films? I mean, I'm totally up for seeing Men in Black for the thousand-and-first time. I'm just curious as to why, is all.
  19. She does sound like she's from Legends of Dune, doesn't she? And some of her characters are about as one-sided as a lot of the characters in Legends...
  20. Went to the pub last night to send off a few of my colleagues at work. Had a couple of Guinness with my boxti, and a whole bunch of rum & Cokes, of varying strength (same hottie-clone bartender, though...). I'm surprised at the absence of a hangover this morning. Haven't had rum & coke in a long time. It was good to get reacquainted.
  21. There's a few of them; they look like regimentary flags. I think they're just a few Fremen, myself.
  22. , from the Devil May Cry games.
  23. I always liked the name Leto. but yes, it was traditionally a feminine name. In Greek mythology, she was the mother of Apollo and Artemis (with Zeus).
  24. Nah, He's usually much more subtle than that. If it were Cthulhu, he'd have us destroying New York ourselves. :O
  25. Then it's probably not very funny.
